*Official* Fourth Test at Headingley

Bloody hell, looks like we've reached a satisfactory conclusion to this discussion, don't quite know how to feel now tbh

Lee hasn't made strides. He just flits between expensive nothingness and the occasional time when he actually moves it off the straight and becomes a very dangerous bowler. He's done it throughout his career.
Clearly you haven't watched Lee between the WI 05/06 to WI 08.

I violently disagree.

Lee's media boosters are so blind. The guy averages 48 in his last 10 Tests, and has a shocking record in England. Furthermore, the bag he got before the 1st against the England Second XI was taken after they were 1 for 200+.
The average of 48 in the last 10 Tests can surely be accepted because, by all accounts, he had a stomach virus. The spell against the England Lions may have been when they were 200/1, but I don't see that as a massive negative. Teams get into good positions, good bowlers get them out of such positions.

What a ridiculous theory, now I have to question whether you watched that game either? Yes, the captain didn't have faith in him when the ball was swinging around corners and with 4 pace options. And of course with figures of 1/4, Im sure Strauss must have been thoroughly disappointed with his sole spinner.

No threat?!! He took 2 bloody wickets in his first over and turned the game on its head.
Why don't you do everyone a favor here and watch the game instead of making somewhat ill-advised comments about his performance in those games. Swann finished the series with 8 wickets, and just so you know no one from Harbhajan to Zaheer to Flintoff took more wickets in that series. Yes his average doesn't look great, but neither does Harbhajan who averaged 35 odd and Mishra who averaged over 42 as opposed to Swann's 39 and lets just remember they bowled at infinitely poorer players of spin than Swann had to contend with. Both those pitches that we saw in India were about as dead as a dodo which is why India chased down 387 odd on the last day with absolute ease in one of the tests and the other test was always going to be a drawn game irrespective of anything that happened. Jumping to conclusions based purely on numbers is about the worst thing to do when it comes to judging player performance.

He's averaging 50 this series, thats pretty much it. No one is hailing him as the successor to Jesus. The point is that hes a good spin bowler when the conditions are favorable and is a fairly capable bat. He's the best in England and almost certainly better than anyone in Australia.
Best TEC post ever.

Heavy rain forecasted tonight. Tomorrow looks set to be okay, but looks like the Corrin curse continues, might be a delayed start.
You're a ****ing Jonah mate. If your car doesn't start and you get there late, I bet they start on time.

Anyway enjoy it. You'll be all out before tea and we'll have a first innings lead by stumps.

Funny you should say that. Txt my mate before and said, "Crims to win the toss, bat, all out by lunch."

His reply was simple, yet effective.

"*Drinks."

Me like.

Aww balls, Freddie :(
Is he definitely out?

Clark on radio this mornoing sounded very confident of playing, wothout giving anything away.

Tbf to Watto, Clark was also asked about Lee and he volunteered that it's a big risk for him to play without any cricket under his belt.

Dunno why they don't play a straight bat to that tbh.

Had a dream that Clark came in for Siddle and took 6 wickets. If they put Clark in, we'll win, if they leave Siddle in, we'll do well. If they put in Lee I reckon we'll lose. And I'm a Lee fan, but he doesn't have the bowling into him - barring injury to the other options he shouldn't play in either of the remaining tests.

Because it's a blindingly obvious point?

He's not definitely out. I think he'll play but I am in the minority there.

I am pumped for this Test. Public holiday up here in Logan City on Monday - so a solid three days/nights on the couch coming up. Will need to be periodically roled over to prevent bed sores. My spies tell me that Siddle will make way for Clark, and Haddin will be declared fit.

Yeah, same mail I'm getting. Clarke almost certain to play but if not Ronald would take his spot.

Can't believe the Lee-love. He's had 18 good months as a Test cricketer in a 10 year career - his first 6 and 12 between 2006-07. He's never won us a Test match that I can recall, and his numbers for a bloke who has played 80 Tests aren't outstanding.

He's been bowling for the last 8 days - and he's seriously being considered for a Test start? Come on. IF he had miles of bowling under the belt pre-injury then maybe - but only maybe - fair enough. But he's barely had a decent bowl since 2008. No way in the world he should play.
