BARNES OUT
Logan loaned out after new deal - News - Manchester City FC

He's a decent player, Corrin. Should do very well for you. Interesting to see we handed him a new deal beforehand though, he's decent but won't ever be quite good enough in the top flight. All up in the air with younger blokes, I probably would've said the same about Ireland last season and look at him now. Probably just gave him the deal to ensure we get a decent fee from you if you choose to keep him, IIRC Ishmael Miller signed a new deal before going to West Brom on loan a few years back.

Came in the thread to ask you about him, cheers for that Smitteh. Looks like Ryan Shotton won't be coming back, but good to get promising Prem youngsters for a year. If we want to go up this season we are going to have to loan our way up, so this is a decent move

I bet if it were a footballing nobody then he would got some jail time.
Ironically, if it were the average Joe I hardly think this would have gone this far.

Gerrard off, and on the facts - or what I have read of them - fair too.

He pleaded self-defense.
He pleaded self-defense but hit the guy first ("with the speed of a boxer"), that after his mate gave the guy an elbow.

I was surprised the case went this far, as Gerrard and his wife have well publicised connections with the Liverpool underworld...

Also was a farce having the case held by a local jury and to add to the romanticism, Kenny Dalglish was there to give a glowing reference for Gerrard. They probably asked for his and Gerrard’s autograph/photo once it all finished.

Hmm, what a joke, another reason for misanthropy.

What facts are those?

He instigated the incident
The other 6 in the group were guilty
There's video evidence of him throwing punches as well as him admitting throwing them, and he got them in first whilst he had a 7-1 advantage on the guy

He hit the guy not knowing that his mate struck him. So when the DJ had fallen forward towards him, he had thought the DJ was going to strike him. Hence, his action and subsequent plea of self-defense.

Gerrard:

"I thought he was going to hit me," Gerrard said.

"He was on his way forward to me and his behaviour had changed from when I was having a discussion with him. I didn't know why."

Asked how he felt now, the footballer added: "I am certainly mistaken in thinking he was coming towards me to throw punches at me. Now I know, obviously, he had been struck, reacted and thought the strike was by me and he came into me and that's when I reacted.

"I am sorry about the whole incident."
The Judge:

"The verdict is a credible verdict on the full facts of this case, and you walk away from this court with your reputation intact.

"At all times you insisted that you only ever acted in what you believed was reasonable self-defence to what you understandably, albeit you accept mistakenly, believed was an attempted attack upon you by Marcus McGee.

"What at first sight to the casual observer may seem to have been a clear-cut case against you of unlawful violence, has been nowhere near as clear-cut upon careful analysis of the evidence."

No, that depends on where this instigation is believed to have begun. For example, the DJ's behaviour towards Gerrard could have been seen as instigation.

They admitted it.

The video evidence shows him throwing a punch after the DJ fell towards him - which is after he was struck by someone else. Gerrard has said that he didn't know the DJ was struck until he saw the CCTV footage of it happening and then accepted he was mistaken. However, since we only judge on what he was reasonably to assume at the time his defense is fine.

Not that difficult.

In that the father of his kid is one of them, yes

Gerrard's missus had a kid a couple of years back except Gerrard never fathered it, a Liverpool gangster did. Allegedly.
