BARNES OUT
I'd be worried if I was an Arsenal fan. Wenger's just come into some money, one of his attacking mids that he forces to play wide has gotten injured, there's still plenty of 17yo Frenchmen around....

Would lay a tenner on him buying a unknown soft as butter midfielder if they took that option at betting agencies.

Actually I do remember that now, thanks though :)

Would be keen to hear others thoughts on Aquilini (Roma midfielder) as well. Although the longer it drags on the more confident I am 'pool will keep Alonso/Mascherano (still think it's in the balance now though), given that he's recently been touted as a possible replacement would love to know what some people in the know think about him.

He's better than any central midfielders United currently have.

Debatable IMO - I'd take a fully fit Owen Hargreaves over Aquilani, though a fully fit Owen Hargreaves is approximately as mythic a beast as Pegasus.

Speaking of Aquilani, I reckon Smitteh has been having a crack at his wikipedia profile:

"Aquilani turned down a move to liverpool in July 2009, he is quoted as saying he didn't want to move to a "small club", he would however listen to any offer from a bigger club such as Manchester City"

Surprised he only has 11 caps to his name actually, thought he had more than that.

Haha yeah. You've got to take fitness into account when judging players, and I'd have Aquilani in my team over Hargreaves every single time for that reason alone.

 What was Gerrard doing drinking with Accrington players?

Anyway, tbh from what I've heard this DJ guy is a bit of a ****, dunno

What makes Aquallani so special though?. Played well in the EURO QF vs Spain & does well in Italy, but not sure if he can handle the premiership TBH.

Quite possibly, there seems a high percentage of pricks in the profession, tbh. However punching someone, even if provoked, is always a bad idea. Especially for the rich and famous in these litigious times.

Can't see anything other than a guilty verdict, in fact as Gerrard has admitted he threw three punches I'm not sure why he's not pleading guilty. Would get lesser sentence.

The flipside to your argument, of course, is the one my dad (who thinks Gerrard walks on water but has been saying for months that he did it) presented to me - surely Gerrard, with all his money, can get the best legal advice going? and therefore why would he plead not guilty if he wasn't likely to get off?

Depends whether the jury are reds or blues IMO

Gerrard's aesthetic knobness reaching new heights on here:

Usual bull**** otherwise.
I find it a bit dodgy that the trial is taking place in Liverpool tbh, surely raises questions about the potential bias of the jury.

Should have the book thrown at him and made an example of imo, but doubtless he will get a slap on the wrists if he is found guilty, that said, the I wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets aquitted, dire.

Well when somebody is on £100k plus per week you would he would be able to afford the best lawyers in the country. Where would you hold the trial, in London I suppose? Becausee if it is Manchester then you have the same potential bias of the jury.
