Well Done to SL team, Great performance when two of their main players are out. Well Played Alam. I hope he continues to do well in the future. Sounds like a great prospect.

Thushara bowled the best spell of any bowler in the series during the first test pakistan collapse. And you want him dropped?? plus he's picked up about 6 wickets I think.

Kaushal Silva? When you have Prassan Jayawardene fit?

Kapugedara for Warnapura/Paranvithana when both have finally started making runs?

You obviously have no idea.
Mate,

The series has been decided, the next game is just a dead rubber.

It's a perfect opportunity to give the guys on the bench a piece of the action.

Comprende?

Btw Kaushal Silva is a great batsman, an area which Prasanna doesn't even come close in.

Don't agree with that line of thought. Fine for ODI series', not in a Test series. 3-0 is a lot more impressive than 2-1.

They had lost all ten for 90 in the first innings. Why should you be surprised.

I was very surprised that they scored 285 before the second wicket fell in the second innings. Now that was out of character :)

Pakistan looks like they are in hurry to undo all the good name earned by winning the T20 World Cup.

You think T-20 success can be transformed into the five day version of the game?

By that logic, Australia and South Africa should be bottom of the Test rankings after their showing in the last two T 20 world cups :)

Agreed. Also, aren't there are ranking points riding on it?

Not that it matters too much, but I would so love to see SL being ranked as the top Test team in the world one day.

Whatever said about T20 being a bit of slap and giggle, it was still a world cup win and Pakistan certainly celebrated that win back home. The win for India turned their fortunes around quite a bit. We saw the emergence of a squad that beat Australia in tests and have pretty much won all their ODI series.
No reason why Pakistan couldn't have emulated that.

T20 was a bit of slap-and-giggle, but I think it's fair to say that it's now come of age. Compare the last two world cups and you'll see what I mean -- it's gone from a thoughtless, meaningless game to one where every ball is important, the most effective bowlers never bowl the same ball twice, and the best batsmen play some jaw-dropping shots.

Unfortunately, I'm not old enough to compare it to the OD game gaining credence back in the '70s -- can parallels be drawn?

Next match will be a selection dilemma.

Mendis is out of form, and Murali is fit. That's easy to figure out. Warnapura and Jayawardane has been woefully out of form. But last innigs both played well. In considering that both need another go in 3rd test match. paranavithana has been classy, but had thrown away starts regularly. Kumar, Matthews, Samaraweera and Dilshan all are stop start form. Prasanna Jayawardane is fit.

Team like this may play at Colombo RPS, which is well known to produce run-fests.

Paranavithana, Warnapura, Sangakkara, M. Jayawardane, Samaraweera, Dilshan, P. Jayawardane, Kulasekara, Thushara, Herath, Murali. We might see some spin from Dilshan, Warnapura and Paranavithana.

Murali might be fit, but it probably a good chance to rest him and make sure he is fully fit in more important matches. No need to rush him back. Would be disappointed if they dropped Mathews or a no hoper like Prassana.

My dear, India's Test performance has nothing to do with their T 20 performance. Most of the stars of their T20 World Cup win are not the stars of their Test sides.

I dont think the lineup will be changed. Mendis might get a rest, other than that no change imo.
