*Official* First Test at Swalec Stadium, Cardiff

So is Swann's finger bad enough that he can't bowl? That could explain taking the new ball.

England have nothing left to throw at us. Surely they should give Panesar some more overs with perhaps Pietersen or Collingwood at the other end not to tire out the seamers so much.

Well done North and Patto! Have been sceptical, but has looked a different man since the second half of the Worcester knock.

Australia's batting temperament and application has really been the difference between the two sides. England threw their starts away, Australia professionally went on with things.
Yes, I think that's 100% correct. Of course, English stupidity is nothing new, but it's rare to see it so immediately and comprehensively shown up by the opposition doing exactly what we should have done. Barring a lot of rain, we'll lose this by some distance, and deservedly so.

There's an interesting piece on cricinfo comparing this tour to 1989, and I think they have a point. Hopefully England won't get through 29 players this summer, but it's pretty clear that we at least need to ask some different questions of their batsmen at Lord's. Rightly or worngly, Harmison's performance in the current CC game will probably get him into the side along with Onions. Whether we can get any brains into the heads of our batsman and captain may be a tougher task.

Well batted North.

Time to go crazily aggro though. We need to get a good lead to bowl at, and time to get them out, too.

That shouldn't take to long.

Even if it rains and we don't get a result, we have done the damage to their confidence and have the upper hand in the mental side of the game.
Except that maybe two of these guys will be replaced at Lord's. If England escape with a draw from this, their over-riding emotion will be huge relief, accompanied by the view that some of them can't possibly bowl as badly next time.

I don't understand why they don't play the Sky lunchtime program. It's always really high quality and well put together.

That's why he bounced out the English captain and completely made a fool out of their number 3 batsman. Outbowled all of England's bowlers by far.
Totally agree. Well, just watching this first session today, the bowling is softer than the local park cricket here in suburban Sydney The batsmen are going fine....but why wouldn't they???..the English bowling is absolutely pathetic and not of test standard. Early days yet, but much worse bowling than they had during the last series, and you know the result of that one!!! 5-0.:laugh::laugh:

Only rain can save them.....but who cares...there are a few more tests to go !!!:laugh::laugh:

It would make MacGill, Mo and Martyn basically useless then.

They may as well just show the full feed I guess.
