Brillant, great to see Hearth playing towards his potential after so few chances at the top level. Just needed a captain to use him as an attacking options, not just hold down one end. Thurshara seemed to have bowled well as well. Just need Prasad/Malinga to partner him and we should be sweet.

Overall I am not too dissatisfied sure it sucks to loose from this position but there are some positives. Bowling is coming up nicely though Gul was poor in this game but I am sure he will bounce back meanwhile Malik and Butt had a poor game and hopefully this will hasten their exit.

Do you have a link to their domestic batting performances? I couldn't find any reference to their stats in the Tier A Premier League....
Tier A, isn't our top league anymore. So your better off looking at performances in the Provincial league or Sri Lanka A, or just all their domestic games. A lot of the guys may have not played in all the Tier A matches if they were away for the national team or A team. But here are there stats for year.

MG Vandort 514 runs @ 34.26
WU Tharanga 875 runs @ 72.91
CK Kapugedera Only played two games at home in the domestic season. Having a closer look his improved FC record is due to belting domestic sides in Zimbabwe and Bangladesh during tour matches.
ML Udawatte 453 runs @ 34.84
JK Silva 1012 runs @ 56.22
AD Mathews 1038 runs @ 79.84

Based on the domestic performances in all the domestic tournments and the odd tour matches. Mathews, Silva and Tharanga should/are next in line for the Test side. Chamara Silva, Muburak and Kandamby have similar records as well this season. Kapu dominated tour matches so he also pretty close. He struggled on the bowler friendly domestic pitches though.

Hahahaha pakpassion (pak's main cricket forum) has gone into meltdown. So funny, congratulations Sri Lanka and condolences to Chokistan.

Pakistan needs 168 to win it
5/0 at the moment
2 days left in the game so Pakistan should win, unless they collapse
I read this post yesterday and thought well that's very obvious.. But in saying that I was pretty amazed to see Sri Lanka win. .

I had a feeling that someone would take 6/16 or something and make SL win .... so it was Herath [don't know if I heard of him b4] who took 4/15

Pak don't have the batting to survive in tough test match batting conditions and it was exposed again. ..... Yousuf, Pak's top batsman, has a poor record against good bowling sides like OZ, SA and SL and it is something he needs to improve up on

For SL, they would feel lucky to have come out of this from the situ they were in and winning w/o the likes of Sangakara firing and w/o the services of Murali and Malinga

I agree that Yousuf has plenty to rectify in terms of dominating top-shelf bowling. But little of the blame can be placed on his performance this test match. Scored a fantastic century in the first innings, and was genuinely outfoxed by Herath in the second.

Excited to see Yousuf back at Test level.

that ball from Herath could have taken anybody first up. A test hundred 100 in a return game after 2 years is awesome achievment.

Very Impressed with Paranavithana and Matthews. The way they bat shows that they have class with them. Although Kulasekara did well, he might get the chop for more flashier Prasad on bouncy Colombo PSS. Warnapura may lose his place too.

Why would you drop Warnapura, he has only had a couple poor matches and there is no specialist opener that knocking the door down. Was Dilshan keeping that poor that we need Prassana back ASAP. The best option to bring Mathews into the side long term is batting him at 7 and bowling if and when required. Personally I think we have the best balance we ever had in the XI.

He got some absolutely HUGE slices of luck though. Didn't convince me 100%.

Interesting question:

Pakistani fans, would you prefer to win this series, or have won the T20 World Cup.

Same with any Sri Lankan fans.

I m PAK Fan! pak acctually will have to work on their Batting specially on their Openers MAybe instead of Abdur Rauf there should be razzaq with more experience. Is nAsir Jamshed in the squad?

Thank God Moham. Yousuf is back it really motivates the middle order.

Dilshan's keeping might have an effect on his batting. I would like Jayawardane ASAP. At the moment Matthews is too important for the side more than Warnapura. Possibly Sangakkara can open the innings.

Congratulations to the SL team. What an epic comeback they had! Pathetic is the right word to describe Pakistan’s batting. On to the next (collapse) one I suppose.

I can only speak for myself. Normally I would take a test series victory over winning the Twenty20 WC. However, this time it was a bit different. Considering recent events and what had happened to Pakistan Cricket, that WC win was so emotionally important. In terms of its significance, it may have meant more to Pakistan than the ’92 WC win, and that’s saying something. So I’d take the Twenty20 WC win over this Test series, but just this one time.

Definetley test series win but as Fusion said this 20/20 win was very important due to various reasons. Also Pakistan has won test series in SL several occasions so its significance is not as big

You don't think batting at six and bowling regularly might effect his batting or bowling. He couldn't bat in the top order at domestic level and bowl effectively. And when he did bowl effectively it effected his batting. Mathews is not ready to play as a top order batsmen and frontline bowler, he can't even put both together at domestic level.

I can't see how batting at six and keeping will have a major effect on Dilshan, not like it not something he didn't do for the first four years of his FC career. Even then he was batting at three and keeping. He only gave up keeping due the NT selectors wanting him to work on his bowling. It had nothing to do with the effect it had on his batting

Much rather Dilshan keeping and batting at six, then Mathews batting at six and bowling a large number of overs.
