About the same as it was at Lords this year, in the WI, in India and in virtually every test against SA last year

Jimmy has improved but he's in danger of becoming the most overrated cricketer on CW as it's more often than not a case of style over substance
Your 4-ball statement was completely baseless, can't remember him bowling like that in a long time

Haha, yes, glad it's not just me. They went back to being 10/1 or something a little while ago.

Lords

Swung it all over the place in perfect bowling conditions but hardly landed a ball in the same spot twice in the first innings

He bowled seven overs and never found his rhythm, yeah. You made it sound like he's regularly spraying the ball out, the truth is he has been very consistent over recent times and the only Oz bowler you'd pick ahead of him would be Johnson I reckon

Agree about Cricinfo, they had Freddie has taking the eighth wicket and it turns (if that's the right word) out to be Monty. Fairly hard to mix them up, I'd of thought:unsure:

Expected rant from Scaly about Panesar picking up tail-end wickets, but I have to say I agree with him on this one. I'll be gutted if he plays at Cardiff with us having 6 or 7 viable pace options looking to fill 4 places, making it three would just be silly:blink:

If Monty gets picked will the uproar match that of his non-selection down under in 06?

Looking forward to seeing Marcus throw some down tonight. Will be interesting to see if he can get much/any turn.

For me, as an England fan, the benchmark is, would I be happy with him bowling in the Ashes the way he's bowled over the last months? The answer is "hell yes".

I don't understand what's the point of playing Monty, but not Sidebottom?

Are we gunna play 3 quickies with 2 spinners???

Depends upon the result of the match

From memory, the criticism of his non-selection in Oz really picked up momentum some time into the game when it was apparent that Eng had Flintoff and that was about it

Yeah, in the general public & media that's true. From what I remember us CWers were raging as soon it was mentioned though, oh how times have changed
