I'd keep Khan just to have that guy who can reliably stick around and still score at an alright pace but otherwise Nazir and co. would inject a bit of life into the side. Make Razzaq captain I say!

How is it his fault when his team can't field and keep droping catches? pakistan's fielding was bellow average and they drop to many catches. Holland seems better team to qualify.. face it.. because of better fielding and they are playing with Passion.. after watching pakistan play against England and warm up matches.. it seems like they don't even want to be in the tournment..they are not even playing serious cricket..

I say they have done everything wrong so far.. so let it be another wrong move..

first 6 overs are crucial and let afridi play them..and if he manages to hit a few big shot.. Pakistan will have a good start.. if not.. they aren't geting a good start anyways..

why in the hell they have Misbah bat so down the order..he should bat at number 4 because he is the only in form batsman right now in pakistani team..have malik bat at 3 and keep Kamran akmal for the last overs..Play sohail tanveer for arafat..

TBH, I actually agree with him. I'm starting to enjoy watching Twenty20 cricket more and more, but I think part of that is because I don't have hang-ups about what I think should happen, who I think is good and who I want to win. There's no real context of results - you pick a team at the start of the game and cheer them on. That's the concept. It doesn't mean you shouldn't try to win and it doesn't mean you shouldn't pick the best team available to you, but it's not the end of the world if you lose, IMO.

I don't think it proves a lot and I don't think the results are particularly important. A lot of people disagree and that's fair enough, but I personally don't think there's a lot wrong with how Younis views it.

One cannot think something is not important, while having accepted the captaincy.

Ok, the RR ready reckoner looks something like this :

If Pakistan bats first

Simple, they have to win by 25 or more runs. So that the difference between RR of Pakistan and RR of Holland is more than 1.23. eg- If Pakistan scores 140 in 20 overs, they have to restrict Holland to 115 or less in their 20 overs. Ie, the net difference in RR is 7 (140/20) minus 5.75 (115/20) = 1.25.

If Pakistan is chasing

Effectively the same condition has to be maintained, ie, the difference is RR should be more than 1.23 in Pakistan's favor. For this I've devised an equation whereby, the par over to chase down the target would be :

Where x = Holland's total in first innings

Pakistan would need to chase it down in less than the par overs found out in the above equation.

eg - If Holland scores 100 in 20 overs. Then according to the above equation, x = 16.212 overs, which translates into 97.3 balls. Pakistan need to chase it down hence in less than 97.3 balls, ie, 97 or 16.1 overs.

The big diffence is that Netherlands are the one and only (half-)decent cricket team, outside the former British empire. I think it is significant for the future of cricket that it expands outside the commonwealth.

T20 is the only, yet likely, opportunity for cricket to make it to the Olympics within 2 decades. My guess is that a Dutch breakthrough will help more than a Kenian win or two.

Apart from that, Dutch cricket can really only go upwards. It's all about media attention: When the Dutch cricket team qualified for the WCT20, not one single newspaper mentioned it. Before the tournament started, only one newspaper informed its readers about a historic day for Dutch cricket, as they would play England at Lord's for the first time, in a new, not-so-boring format of the game. Playing agaisnt England at Lord's was the historic fact, the possibility of a win was not mentioned....

However, today, every Dutch newspaper has articles on cricket. Columnists write about it and even some attempts to explain cricket have appeared.
