Wish I could understand French.
They translated it on RG radio.

Mostly he just repeated what he said in English and thanked the legends of the game for creating the history he's been chasing. In the post-match interview, he said the pressure was finally off him and now no-one can say that he'll never win the French.

Fair play to Fed. Didn't think he had it in him, but didn't expect Nadal to go down to anyone in France for a good few years.

Expect him to be out on his own after Wimbledon.

Still think Murray should be world number 2 btw, Jono?
Haha, nice try, but I never said Murray was better on clay, so pretty irrelevant (especially since I said Murray would lose to Gonzo).

You would have had me if you said Novak though. :p
Looking forward to Jono coming on here tomorrow and claiming the greatest player of all time is currently the fourth best on tour.
Yeah, happy to admit defeat here. Novak seriously let me down, because Fed didn't have to face either of Nadal or Novak, which I (obviously) thought would be the two he'd struggle against in this tournament (as he had in the lead-ups).

As I said above though, Murray isn't in the best 4 players on clay in the world, so that wasn't a surprise.

Bring on Wimbledon :)

Great to see Federer get the career slam. After dominating for so long, it would have been a blot on his career to not hold the French. Unlike Sampras, Federer actually looked like he had the game to win the French.

Congratulations.

Whatever it takes!!!
yeah.. juz an absolute pity that we have guys like Nadal and Fed who would be winning all slams in any era if they had not had each other to play against.

Great sportsmen too and wonderful ambassadors for the game. Their rivalry and the way they have carried themselves when talking about each other really shows such wonderful mutual respect and even awe for each others' games... Men's tennis looking really strong again.

And fair play to Fed on winning too. He didn't quite beat Nadal but he beat the guy who beat him... That is as close as he could have gotten. :) And he did beat Nadal at Madrid in a similar surface. So it is not like he didn't deserve this...

Still think Nadal is much better than Rog on the clay and the slower hard courts (sadly all hard courts seemingly getting slower and slower around the world).. :(

Minor point, but Nadal never lost to Federer at the US Open.

I love Rafa, but he hasn't won the career Grand Slam because he's never performed at the critical time to win the US Open (for a variety of reasons: faster courts at the US, he's always tired by that time), not because he's played in the same era as Roger.

Rafa's US Open Record:
2008 - lost in Semis to Murray
2007 - lost in 4th round to Ferrer
2006 - lost in Quarters to Youzhny
2005 - lost in 3rd round to Blake

Hes never really performed all that well after Wimbledon. Pretty sure in 07-08 he went about 7 months without playing a final. With the exception of his Aus Open title his performances in the two hard court slams isnt impressive for a 6 time grand slam champion.

Go Roger! He is greater than Sampras now and can challenge for the greatest tennis player of all time position. What a great champion.
