..yeah..Federer should make the most of that..drive home his advantage at this point in the game...Wow, horrible double fault, may have cost him the match.
Are you serious Burgey? Del Potro is an out and out gun, and he showed why tonight. Just too inexperienced to get over the line. This is a ****ing joke. How can Fed lose 2 sets to this muppet?
Dire.
Soderling's serving in the first two sets was just as good tbh. And he didn't even need to crack 215km/h+ (which he can).In some ways yeah, but I don't see how Soderling, or anyone for that matter could serve any better than Del Potro did in the first three sets here.
Why? Emotionally may be, but not on quality. That was Federer at his best. This has gotta be his best run in a Grand Slam ever.
Del Potro didn't let him play at his best. Because he was walloping the ball unlike Federer had seen. Consistently beating him on the longer rallies.3-3... if Federer was playing at his best,we wouldnt even be in a fifth set...
Nah man, he was superb. I couldn't believeFed went from a 5-0 record without losing a set to being two sets to one down.Del Potro didn't let him play at his best. Because he was walloping the ball unlike Federer had seen. Consistently beating him on the longer rallies.
Annoying me how he's not being given his due here.
Would have been nuts. Two amazing semis though - imagine if you had tickets - what a ****ing rollercoaster day!
Reckon the US and French are better tbh. Also gives the same recovery time (roughly) for both finalists.Would have been nuts.
Worth asking if the French and US Open have a better set-up than the Aust Open and Wimbledon, by having a 'super Friday' (Saturday for US Open) and have the men's semis on the same day.
Or perhaps its better to share the love.
I gotta disagree. Why? Emotionally may be, but not on quality.
Fed himself has had far better runs.
Interesting take on it mate. I certainly don't doubt he'll value this as much as any other should he win it.I gotta disagree.
Winning a GS without dropping a set is nothing compared to what Federer's achieved thus far. When you think about how many times he's capitulated over the past year, to step up like that against an outstanding young player, with all the pressure on you to win a tournament where upsets are happening daily -- that was huge.
If he wins this GS, I'd say he's a far greater champion than he ever was before, because he simply hasn't won under these circumstances to date.
Apologies, I actually read your post as the "Best Grand Slam run ever" rather than his, but that being said, I still think considering the 3 top seeds have been knocked out for him (including the best player in the world), its not his best.If he wins this GS, I'd say he's a far greater champion than he ever was before, because he simply hasn't won under these circumstances to date.
