Greatest catch I've ever seen tbh. Remember Matthew Sinclair's catch against Australia? It was a bit like that, only if he hadn't caught it it would have flown about 8 feet over the boundary for six.

Completely changed the game too.
Yep James Taylor took a very similar one yesterday, Jacques Rudolph really got hold of a fullt-toss by Henderson and smacked it low and fast towards the dug-out area a mid-on. Taylor is about 5'5", but quick as hell, dived and took a full length catch at about shoulder height in front of the boundary rope. Was an absolute screamer, best I've ever seen.

The improvement of boundary fielding and general outfielding in the last decade is directly correlated with the rise of Twenty20. Discuss...

Just got back. Yeah, Croft's catch was insanely good - no idea how he wasn't man of the match when he took three very good catches (that one, one on the run and a skier that was moving about a lot). McGrath's to get rid of Prince was almost as good as well.

Not sure about opening the bowling with du Plessis though. He may have ended up with really good figures, but he got away with all sorts of ****e. The one he got Gale with (first ball of the innings) was almost a full-toss no-ball and he then bowled a series of drag downs, half-volleys and full-tosses which kept finding the fielders. Keedy did his usual stuff, Mahmood got a bit of tap from Vaughan early on but returned well. He just has too much pace for most county batsmen. Parry was a bit hit-and-miss, but I guess it was his first Twenty20 game. Nice action with a high gather anyway.

With the bat, we just took our time. Croft settled it by smashing Shahzad (very ordinary) everywhere in the fourth over, leaving Prince to take his time and just pick the right ball to smash.

Funny you should say that, on the radio they were saying that pretty much every ball Mahmood was bowling was a slower ball...think they said he bowled 11 slower balls on the trot at one point, now the commentators on radio lancs are not unprone to talking sh*t so I wouldn't be surprised to hear they were making it up.

I'm not sure whether I agree with the statement that Mahmood is too fast for most county batsmen. County standard batsmen (or good ones at least) don't get beaten for pace on a regular basis as a rule. They are much more likely to get beaten by, swing, bounce, seam and spin than they are to get beaten by pace.

He bowled several slower-ball bouncers and I guess he was mixing it up a bit, but when he was bowling quick he looked quick and so the slower-ball became much more effective.

Yeah, should probably clarify that, I meant more the tailenders he was bowling at.

Rich Pyrah's not a tail-ender, he's just not very good.

I wouldn't have said he was beating them for pace either, he was just too good for them after his first over pie-party. The slower ball in particular they just couldn't get anywhere near.

That was rather sharp from Kieswetter. Done really well to break up his momentum down the leg side and get his weight back quick enough to take the bails.

What's wrong with getting out to a good ball? =/

2nd stumping for Keiswetter, looks a really handy keeper and a talented batsman. Sign him up England!

Waller's on a hat-trick. Heck of a collapse from Warwickshire!

4 wickets gone in 14 balls. Classic English collapse.
Yeah, and with Ian Bell in the middle of it, too:)

This was how Somerset won their first match, with Waller and Thomas bowling tight in tandem.

I rate Alfonso Thomas very highly when it comes to death bowling. Every time I've seen him bowling at the death he's been excellent. One of the best Yorker bowlers on the County Circuit I'd say.

Waller getting some treatment in his 3rd over. Bowled a good 2nd over, but it seems they've worked him out. Both his 1st and 3rd overs have been pretty poor tbh, he was gifted one of his 2 wickets.

Who's this on comms with Colville? Warks have apparently 'taken the bulls by the scruff of their horns'.

Dunno who he is, but he sounds like an English version of Ian Harvey. Very nasal voice, quite annoying, just not quite as annoying a voice as Harvey.

Really enjoyed Trott's innings earlier as well. Would much rather have seen him in the England T20 side ahead of Rob Key. Key's been in poor OD form this season!

Edit: It's Andy Caddick. No wonder the bias.

Thomas is such an excellent T20 bowler, this is a brilliant exhibition of death bowling!
