What a dog of a decision in the St George game last night, pardon the pun.

Saw it on replay just before and was, to put it mildly, gobsmacked.

Goodnight SClark.

Falou would still want a fair few more games like that to justify his price tag.
Yeah, any guy who takes up 2/3rds of the salary cap (Lockyer the other third, other guys on match payments) is always going to be scrutinised. However, I think he'll have an absolute stormer in the 2nd half of the season. I love how he so rarely gets injured. I stand to be corrected, but I don't think he's missed a game in the last three years.

Folau to be playing union before the next WC. You heard it here first.
No way, he made such a big deal of returning home to play for the Broncos would be ridiculous for him to leave. Union is becoming less of a threat due to the fact the huge money isnt coming from the ARU anymore, the only Union options are France or Japan and I'm pretty sure Izzy is keen to stay in Brisbane.

You know you can still live in Brisbane and play rugby. There is side called the Queensland Reds, not sure that you can call them a real football team though. Reckon the Australian Womens Rugby side have more balls. But yeah the money not in Australian rugby, but that might change with another side. There still money, but only a couple players can get the big money due to the limited spots.

Did you miss my point about the ARU not throwing all that money around anymore? They simply cant afford it and given they have to pay massive overs to get players to switch they'd need to come up with $750k a year to get him.

Did you read the last couple last sentences? If they really wanted him they could come up with $600k to $750k as some players are on that and more. It is just that there are limited spots due to the small number of sides.

Doubt whether Falau would go to Union. They don't score as many tries from kicks.

AFL would probably be a bigger threat. Can't really see Falau leaving Brisbane either. He wouldn't have left Melbourne unless he really wanted to be closer to his family.

How much was the difference between Melbourne offer and the Brisbane. I thought it was about 100k or something. Reckon money would have had a fair bit to do with it as well. I doubt Brisbane would have paid overs, they never have in the past, unless he showed a he was pretty keen to comeback to Brisbane. Money talks as much as anything, regardless of how humble someone might be on the surface.

Different situation but the main reason why Jnr Hoopo stayed at Manly was cus we upped our bid. Loyalty and wanted stay close may have played a part. But he was more then willingly to sign with the Panthers until we upped the bid.

Brisbane or Folau have never said how much hes getting paid, people have speculated its a backended deal worth $1.6m over 4 years but the Broncos have said it is less than that. Whatever we are paying him its probably worth it I think.

Thought Roosters would struggle this year but not this badly. Just shows though that if you lose one or two of your best players in this competition its hard to compete. Also tonight we saw Roosters get a few injuries and they werent anywhere near good enough.

Worth losing Hunt & Taylor over?

Obviously it's all speculation, but if they hadn't signed Folau, I'd say they would have thrown more cash at both Hunt and Taylor, both of whom would/could play a more important role in Brisbanes future than Folau ever will.

Hunt is still a chance of staying, given the money we have offered him if he doesnt accept that then theres other reasons for him potentially leaving. Also even if we had money to offer Taylor I dont think we would have offered him the sort of coin Souths apparently have. As good as he might be we have waited four years for him to step up but he just hasn't, how much longer can we wait for him to develop?

You've waited 4 years....yet he's still not even 21. I'd be prepared to give a front-row forward another couple seasons simply based on the fact that despite his size, he's still quite young. The Broncos have just let go of their best young Forward last year (imo) in Hannant. To lose Taylor as well the following year would be a huge blow for the future of the team, especially when by all reports the team has paid exorbitant amounts for a bloke they're now playing on the wing. No, Brisbane may not have been able to offer as much coin as Souths, but the team would have had a bit more cap room to work with.

Re: Hunt, yes he still might sign with the Broncos, but it seems pretty clear to me that he wants more $$$ than what they're offering him. If they hadn't signed Folau, I'd say it's likely they would have given it to him. Instead, by signing Folau, they've potentially stuffed up the chance to retain one of the best fullbacks in the game. In terms of importance to the team, Fullbacks >>>> Wingers anyday of the week. It's madness, and a huge mistake if Hunt goes afaic.
