Bit harsh on the spinners. Mishra, Warne and Chawla all made it into the IPL's top ten most valuable bowlers last time round. I guess it was the offies who really suffered- not one in the top sixteen.Lets understand one thing, that experienced side doesn't just look better, in South Africa, it IS better.
The shorter the format the smaller the gap between the top most players and the lesser ones. The batsman friendly tracks, short boundaries, inability of the best bowlers to bowl more than four overs(mostly in 2-3 spells!!) etc make for the kind of play where great batting skills are not at such a great premium.
The shifting of the IPL from India to South Africa changed that.
The conditions in South Africa are not as batsman friendly as they were at home. Thus you need to have a good game to be able to sustain. The jumping out like a mad man and swinging the bat like a chopper's blade that made the likes of Asnodkar and Uthappa such hot shot T-20 batsmen was exposed for what it was - poor batting which will not work under unforgiving conditions.
With batting like that, even the bowlers got "equated" (for want of a better word). The Manpreet Goni's were as likely to get a wicket as the better bowlers and the spinners were best kept in the dug out. That too has changed in South Africa.
Go back to India next year and see the scores go back to ten an over, the Uthappa's and Asnodkars to again warm the ****les of the electronic media's heart (they are tearing their hearts out at not being able to scream for dropping the old foggies) and the spinners be banished to the benches.
He gave a catching chance and was run out in a chaotic manner, but still he was better than in most of his previous innings. His last two outings were a lot better than the rest.Asnodkar didn't come good, tbf. Looked absolute poo.
Haven't really seen enough to comment one way or the other. When the top order not only fails, but eats up deliveries and then fails, it doesn't matter who they have coming in at that position. He gave a catching chance and was run out in a chaotic manner, but still he was better than in most of his previous innings. His last two outings were a lot better than the rest.
What's your opinion on Abhishek Raut? The team isn't getting anything out of him, the way they play him.
Asnodkar is a joke. His attempts to blast the cover of the ball with complete disregard to a simple word (but not so simple skill) called timing are pathetic.Asnodkar didn't come good, tbf. Looked absolute poo.
SJS - Tell us what you really think.Asnodkar is a joke. His attempts to blast the cover of the ball with complete disregard to a simple word (but not so simple skill) called timing are pathetic.
Yup.........looks pretty bad..............I wonder why the usually overactive public relations team of KKR look a bit stranded in the middle of the pitch??Things are getting very heated in the KKR camp, with Ajay Jadeja now echoing the Fake IPL Player's comments regarding clear divisions in the team. And everyone, including all the players, current and former, seems to think Buchanan is useless.
