I hate Sreesanth

Sreesanth is a disgusting cringe inducing fellow. But it was uncharitable and unprofessional of Hayden to go public with such comments about an active international bowler. Precisely why he will never end up as one of the icons of the game.
He already is one of the icons of the game, so that comment is kinda irrelevant.

Comments about Harbhajan and Ishant some time back in early 2008.
Yeah, because Hayden said those comments after averaging over 80 with the bat in the Test series and you're kidding yourself if you think that Harbhajan or Ishant caused Hayden problems, because that just isn't true.

What about the series that followed?

Whilst Harbi talks alot, he can back it up and is currently arguably the best spinner in the world and the Aussies respect that.
Might be taking that out of context slightly, but you'd have to take Murali still, wouldn't you?

Harby fine performer tho, which was sort of your point.

It's pretty well known that Hayden's a first rate **** on the field, always the first to dish out some unearned abuse. But remember that great Aussie thing of what happens on the field stays on the field? Dissappeared in recent years. Also Hayden is a very senior player in world cricket, he should have known better than to try and engage an idiot like Sreesanth in a public war of words.
TBF to Hayden that's kind of what he did. Link:

Hayden, however, refused to reveal what words Sreesanth had hurled at him.

“You don’t want to know. It’s just so meaningless. Mate... I am a Test veteran and a one-day International veteran, I have got nothing to answer to him that’s for certain,” said Hayden

---

Would be the ideal opportunity to share Sree's pearls there, but Hayden kept his counsel.

Far too much has been made of this. Yes, Sreesanth is an ill-mannered sledge-a-holic on the field, but off it, he seems a more responsible, smart person. A big game can get a lot out of several players, and it gets a lot of his more vocal side, like it does some other players. He takes the game very seriously, though in these cases, way too seriously, and that should be acknowledged. He plays for the team, unlike some Indian players of around the same time, who need the team to play for them just to survive in the team. A lot of the criticism is because of his deplorable on-field behaviour, but when he puts that aside and concentrates on the game, he's a far better player. Frankly, he's the kind who'll keep his team's coach very active.

It would have been bottom of the proverbial barrel had Hayden went on to explain what was told by Sreesanth. I don't think it is relevant really. The gripe against Hayden is that he went on record outside the ground saying unwelcome and uncharitable comments against a fellow competitor. For an English fan it would be like Micheal Clarke chiding Stuart Broad's 40 something bowling average ahead of the Ashes and describing him as a show pony.

No the criticism of Sreesanth is fair because of what he does both on and off the field. Not that I care but I cant blame people if they dont like him.

Got a few poor umpiring decisions early in the series before finishing off strongly.
Was shmuck really. One good innings towards the fag end when it did not matter really. And he struggled against SA as well which brought on his retirement. As they say pride goes before the fall.

See Bagapath, I am not defending Sreesanth's behaviour at all. I am all against such utterly rubbish and nonsensical conduct on field. And the fact that he is not learning despite pounding after pounding really worries me. The kid should be given a slap as quickfix and taken to a psychologist in the long term. There are few right arm fast bowlers better than him in the country except perhaps Ishant Sharma. I think he has a very bad friend/advisor circle around him and needs to break out of it. He should have chats with seniors like Brett Lee, Sangakkara and learn a thing or two about being aggressive without showing it.
No senior would be willing to help him If he continues to throw his toys around.

On field yes, but off field? I am genuinely intrigued.
Do You read the news ?

"Who is she? Please understand that she is a non-entity for me. Moreover, she is definitely not Angelina Jolie that I am going to remember her face.......I don't think that I would stoop so low that I have to date an unknown, struggling actor........I have a habit of not saving any number on my mobile phone and I never had her number on my phone. Right now, I'm just concentrating on my game."

Lol, I quoted this a bit earlier here. But I think it is not something like picking a fight with a random barman or going fishing during the team meeting. It is not even comparable to capsizing a pedalo pitch drunk on the eve of a World Cup match. While I find it cheap, his attitude is no different from 70% of yuppies out there who mistakes overconfidence in oneself for attitude.

Erm, no. His last four innings was 83 odd, 14 not out, 16 run out and 74. Hardly shmuck considering that he got two poor decisions in the first Test and was also coming off ankle surgery.

His run of scores in that series were :

0, 13, 0, 29, 83, 16*, 16, 77. He got one bad decision. But I am sure he got favorable decisions earlier in his career so that's unimportant. Coming of injuries is no excuse, as when you are selected for a test match, you are supposed to perform at your best.

Oh and the subsequent flow of scores were

8, 0, 24, 12, 4, 8, 23, 31, 39. Surely that should have diluted his pride a bit.
