Alex Hales LBW without playing a shot first ball for the second innings running...

Interesting from Cricinfo: "Pick of the bowlers was Rikki Clarke. Bowling with sustained pace and, perhaps more surprisingly, accuracy, Clarke extracted dangerous bounce out of another grudging wicket and troubled Sayers throughout. Clarke ended Rudolph's fluent innings with a fine bouncer that followed the batsman and took his glove as he fended it off his face, and should also have had the wicket of McGrath."

Surely a Clarkewatch is coming up ?

Plunkett moving past his highest FC/List A etc. score. Might help him kick on with his career if he can convert his 83* into a century - should be doing better than he has done.

Good recovery from Chapple and Hogg after a couple of early wickets, hopefully we will get at least 300 we need the batting points.

Looks like a good game in Durham. After a decent opening partnership, Sussex's middle order didn't get a run between them but we've been rescued (to an extent) by Luke Wright and and unbeaten 80-odd from Andy Hodd. The game is pretty well poised - let's see if the tail can wag and get us into a first innings lead.

How does he compare with Prior as a keeper Mr Z?
Much much better than Prior, and yet when both play in the team together Prior gets given the gloves.

The best of the lot may be Ben Brown who's 3rd choice keeper.

But all this comes with a massive health warning which is that I'm not an expert on wicketkeeping technique by any stretch of the imagination.

I always found this strange.

A good thing for England to have Prior keeping as much as possible but I would definitely say Hodd's glovework is better. Hodd is a handy batsman too, he should definitely get the chance to develop a lot more with Prior away.

Chasing 120 odd to win at Worcestershire, should be comfortable barring a massive collapse, would be nice to see our opening pair get runs. Saj got 10 in the match will be interesting to see his wickets as his ones in the first innings appeared a combination of strangles down the leg side and wild swipes

Well well well! A nine wicket match haul for Saj - it may be that certain members of this forum have misjudged him

yay he bowled well for one championship match?

he needs to get a whole lot of wickets both in the CC and in tests(if he ever plays again..and he probably will) maybe then you can say we misjudged him...

Was very pleased to see Saj Mahmood record figures of 10-140 off 45.4 overs. His burst in the second innings ensured Lancs were not chasing a target that would prove beyond them, a further 50-60 runs would have made it interesting, but for Saj. This is a start for this season for Mahmood, I certainly hope he can build on this performance and put some real pressure on the current Test side.

Regarding Saj's wickets

cricinfo said:
Mahmood removed Steven Davies with the new ball as the wicketkeeper got a leading edge to cover and claimed the key scalp of top-scorer Moeen Ali for 80 thanks to a smart catch at midwicket by Glen Chapple
Definitely interesting to see the highlights tomorrow morning

His first innings wickets were a result of what strange things pace can do to a batsman, admittedly tail enders, but they were not comfortable, although can only recollect one swipe. He picked up Solanki, strangled down the leg side, but he got big wickets in this game, no matter how. Solanki was removed twice by Saj, Moeen Ali top scorer in the second innings and Steven Davies were both done by Saj. Credit where it's due guys.
