Nah, it's not an excuse, it's an advantage whichever way you look at it. You're playing in basically the same conditions week-in week-out, on the same day, same timeslot etc. everything is consistent.

If there nothing else is obvious about the NRL, it's that the teams that have the most consistency in terms of player line-ups etc. that are the most successful during the season, and afaic that applies to when the teams are playing as well (obviously to a lesser extent).

Not arguing that they are winning because of the timeslot, just that because of their consistent timeslot, they have an advantage over the other teams (imo).

Can understand where your coming from, but imo that benefit is minimal, professional footballers blah blah blah :)

Wonder if we'll see Steve Michaels this Saturday night pissing on a wall during the game thinking he's already played the night before. :)

You could look at it another way. A team like the Broncos who spread the ball, and have a high level of skill in general play do well when the ball moves through the hands to their outside backs. They're actually disadvantaged by night games, because the conditions are more dewy, and ball control becomes far more difficult. A team like the Roosters, who have traditionally scored alot of their tries from kicks will do better at night because a dewy ball makes it harder for defenders to take those bombs cleanly. In all sports, wet conditions traditionally bring teams of lesser skill closer to teams with greater skill.

This is all theory of course. I doubt the numbers actually back my theories up. Personally I think we're best off trusting that the best team on the night/day is usually winning.

Pricey and Sterlo on the Footy Show last night - the past won't leave me alone.

Brought back a lot of memories. Good ones too. When we talk about hard blokes, he really should be right up there. Not because he belted blokes (though he tackled anyhting that moved, and did so with venom), but mostly because he'd stick his head where no one else was game enough to stick their little toe.

Wow at the storm in Newcastle. Good to see it's going to start back soon.

Hopefully the Broncos can get up for Darren.

Where has the Raiders attack gone, FFS. It's ridiculous compared to last year.
