Peter Roebuck

Debris

International 12th Man
Bloody hell :-O how is he still writing??? How is he still respected??? How does he show his face in public??? Well maybe I'm overreacting but this seems seriously odd, I've had old school coaches but this reeks of some sado-***ual thing.
Canings used to be part of school life. I can remember at school people being sent to the metalworks teacher to get the cane. Banned now, of course, but it used to be an accepted method of discipline. I guess only Peter Roebuck would know if he was doing it for enjoyment.

I do have an issue with his bi-polar nature when writing though. Ponting seems to be either the best or worst captain in the world depending on whether Australia won their last match. It's becoming a bit of a joke.

Peter Roebuck starts his latest article is the usual manner...

"BYE, BYE Australia," sang a notably mixed crowd as the last rites were played out at St George's ground in Port Elizabeth. " Bye, bye Australia, please come back again!" It was not intended as an insult but a friendly farewell from an especially cheerful and musical collection of Xhosas, coloureds, Indians and whites that packed the stands to the rafters and enjoyed themselves all day.

Lol, I just don't like how he acts all wise and knowing when he speaks in hindsight, particularly when he's said the opposite earlier.

And most people have discerned an anti-UK tone in much that Roebuck does since he was (in effect) banished from the country.

I think Roebuck's case demonstrates well that mostly normal people can occasionally be extremely abnormal.
Or that extremely abnormal people can be extremely intelligent and have careers as sportsmen and as writers.

Two questions:

1) How does caning a 19-year-old equate to paedophilia?

2) If that is the case, do I need to curb some of my extra-cirricular activities?

I think this internet thing is going to be massive in South Africa.. Twenty years ago people were walking around with burning tyres around their necks, now it brings me great joy to see blacks and whites, gays and retards voicing their opinions on me in harmony!

I thought Australians hated him more than the English?
Dunno. He at least finds gainful employment in the cricket media down under, which I doubt he'd do up here.

Any conviction that carries with it a whiff of child abuse (even if his victims were young men) tends to permanently ruin a rep.
