I am beginning to suspect something happend in between qualifying for the Super 8s and the Super 8 matches themselves that nobody wants to get out. How could an entire batting line up lose discipline and focus like that
A very good question. There's really no acceptable answer.

Maybe Namibia showed up with the ball. There is a reason why they are one of the top FC sides, they can take 20 wickets. Something not all sides seem to be able to do in the longer format.

Yes, could be a good one that - 96 wanted off 12 is stiff, but with 8 wickets in hand ...

At least Eoin Morgan can head off to Lord's with a clear conscience now, his job's done.

But look at the svorecard against Canada. 5 of the top 6 went fishing or hooking and were out caught behind in single digits,..

They been getting out that way for a long time now. It nothing new with the Kenyan batsmen recently. A lot of shots, but not a great deal of temperment.

True but I have not seen that level of collective mass failure since we got whitewashed by Bangladesh back in 2006 on our own patch. That was a team that had not layed meaningful cricket over a year and Roger harper was only fresh in the job. These guys have been playing on regularly as ateam since January

Because they were driving away from the body either on the wrong foot or with no footwork at all.
Hey, you gotta try to score runs somehow. Canada's opening bowlers are particularly good and in your frustration i don't think you're giving them enough credit.

It wasn't that long ago that Odoyo saved you guys with a couple massive innings. Prior to that Tikolo was doing it game in game out. Alex Obanda for mine was a false hope, he played a lot of shots and they were coming off. But sooner or later they were going to go straight to fielders. The batting line up has been poor for a while, it just a couple guys carried them and spinners were on fire.

I hear a lot of people say Harper did a good job and Kirsten the main problem. But for mine the batting was pretty poor back in Harper time, it just the top batsmen like Tikolo were in form and carry the rest. There was always a sence when he stopped carrying them this might happen to their batting line up. The cracks have been there for a long time. Just just the glue (Tikolo) has just gotten old now.

There is one quite important match still going on of course - Scotland needing 49 off 25 balls. Afghanistan have their noses in front but plenty of sides have won from Scotland's position in the past, they can't afford the loss of momentum a wicket would bring though.

Edit: in the time it took me to write that, they lost two wickets. Well, I'm not sorry, they support everyone who plays against England after all ...

You got to stay in to score runs at all...and if you are going to playa shot commit to it 100%. The Canadians bowled wee true, but the kenyans batted badly too...

Harper had the side making less mistakes because i suspect he got more players to take personal responsibility for the team, hence Tikolo, Odoyo purple patch. Obanda needs to grow up more because the number of shots he has implies he is a better player than is on show. I cannot say Kirsten is to blame because he can only do so much if the players do not the basics right.

Or maybe he had them in time before the end of their use by date and they became too old to useful. Explain to me how he did better when the likes of Morris Ouma and Collins Obuya as poor back then, as they are now?

Collins Obuya has applied himself more than oncle and got Kenya out of self dug holes eg. against Bermuda and Namibia in the Intercontinental Cup (se first innings) whilst Ouma obvioulsy has not changed since. That Tikolo and Odoyo, have gone off form is no excuse for a player lie him or James Kamande, or even Alex Obanda not to put their heads down and focus on accumulating runs for the team's sake.

can I just add that generally we need att the top 6 batsmen to bat more like Kamande...

Well, strangely Afghanistan have gone to the bottom of the table despite their win today, Namibia's huge win putting them to the head of the three teams tied on 4 points. All to play for in the final round though, which will be Friday I presume? The only thing that's been settled is that Ireland and Canada will play in the next World Cup, and we knew that before today.
