Kane was always known, by me anyway as the undertakers brother, never anything more tbh, but he was always good to watch but he was never destined for much.
I don understand why legends have to lose their last match.... Shawn has already put over a number of guys and I don't see anything wrong in him winning his last match and retiring... He is a face and it would make a lot of sense for a face to retire with a win... I expect him to defeat someone he has not defeated much and then retire in that fashion...That's a great article Barney and a great Wrestlemania card. Some things I would do, and others I wouldn't but overall it's a great looking card.
I wouldn't put Edge and Christian together as a tag team because it would just mean that both of them are going back to the mid card. I'd actually have Edge vs Christian at Wrestlemania if they hold off on their feud over the next year.
Chris Jericho vs Evan Bourne could be an awesome match up and it would be fantastic to see. However I can see Chris Jericho taking on The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. That leads to Cena vs Undertaker. I can't see Undertaker battling for a championship again at Wrestlemania but I can definitely see Undertaker taking on Jericho.
I really like the idea of a Triple H vs Shawn Michaels retirement match much like Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair was done back in Wrestlemania 24. But wouldn't you want to put over a young guy to take Shawn Michaels out of WWE? But if they can't find that guy then Triple H vs Shawn Michaels makes sense.
My card would probably be:
MITB: Kennedy, Mysterio, Shelton, Jeff Hardy, MVP, John Morrison, Umaga, Brian Kendrick
World Heavyweight Championship: Edge vs Christian
WWE Championship: Randy Orton vs John Cena
Chris Jericho vs The Undertaker
Jack Swagger vs Kurt Angle
Intercontinental Championship Match: CM Punk vs Evan Bourne vs William Regal
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase vs Harry Smith and Tyson Kidd
Retirement Match: Triple H vs Shawn Michaels
It's called passing the torch and it's important to continue to do service to the wrestling business even after you retire. In this case Shawn wouldn't put over anybody anyway since he'd probably face Triple H in a retirement match similar to how Ric Flair faced Shawn Michaels.I don understand why legends have to lose their last match.... The young guys can be put over in the upcoming PPVs if need be....
Yeah, part of it wasn't so much what I'd do as what I think WWE might do. As much as Edge vs Christian at WM would be amazing, after Christian's failure to win MITB despite being the most over guy in the match I'm starting to think Vince has it in for him. That's a great article Barney and a great Wrestlemania card. He just needs the opportunity. Now granted I'm a big Christian fan but I firmly believe that all he needs is the chance. He's a better worker than 99% of the WWE roster and he's a better talker than most of the WWE roster as well. I was thoroughly impressed with his run as World Heavyweight Champion in TNA and he carried that company really well with some great performances on the mic and in the ring.If Christian goes anywhere, hopefully it is SD! I'm not a massive fan of the guy (I will never buy him as a World Champ), but he'll get lost in the shuffle on Raw.
But Ric Flair was an OBVIOUSLY spent force inside the ring.. Not Shawn, he looks like he can take down even the best, even today.. The man has hardly missed a beat since coming back in 2002... And he is not that old that it looks bad if he wins... Passing the torch can happen well before his last match too... As I said, wins/losses are taken way too seriously by the IWC... Most common fans don't think of stats and how much a guy has won/lost before they decide whether he can win his current match. It is only how well the guy is put over in THAT match that counts..It's called passing the torch and it's important to continue to do service to the wrestling business even after you retire. If a legend like Ric Flair could lose on the way out there's no reason why Shawn Michaels can't do the same thing.
Richard doesn't look at stats (or logic) to judge someone. Closet WWE fan? Most general WWE fans don't look at stats before deciding whether a guy can win.. I mean, it is not cricket, is it?
This post doesn't make much sense. Let me just clarify, I do think Shawn Michaels is great and I'm a fan of his. I've always enjoyed watching Shawn Michaels perform and it will be sad to see him retire. But Ric Flair was an OBVIOUSLY spent force inside the ring.. If the stipulation is that he retires if he loses, it makes sense. But if it isn't and it is juz plainly announced as his last match, I dont see why he HAS to lose... I am talking in general here, this isn't even about Michaels...This post doesn't make much sense. Let me just clarify, I do think Shawn Michaels is great and I'm a fan of his. But that's the general stipulation of retirement matches isn't it? Barney and I were discussing possible Wrestlemania 26 cards and he brought up the possibility of a retirement match against Hunter.
Now in retirement matches it generally goes that if you lose, you retire. Seeing as Hunter isn't retiring anytime soon, Shawn fits this category. If Hunter and Shawn were to have a retirement match where the loser retires, it's pretty obvious like with what happened with Ric Flair last year that Shawn would lose that particular match.
Nothing to do with wins and losses, nothing to do with statistics. It's just to further the retirement angle and all I'm saying is that I can see WWE going down a similar path with Shawn as they did with Ric Flair.
He probabley thinks he is though I agree with you unless your name is Bret Hart wrestlers don't take this win/loss stuff too seriously. If the stipulation is that he retires if he loses, it makes sense. You have a guy who is still looking in good enough shape to defeat the main guys.. He is a legend and it is his retirement match. What is wrong with him bowing out with a win? or even a title? And as far as putting over others is concerned, you can put over guys without having to lose to them.. Bret put over Austin in SS back in 96 even though Bret was the guy who won... Taker put over HBK in this years' Mania... I really don't understand why these wins/losses are treated so seriously... It is a make believe world... The wins/losses seriously do NOT count.. Otherwise, Goldberg will be the greatest of all time...
Chris Jericho going to Smackdown was the draft pick of the night for me. There are some great potential matches thanks to this move. Chris Jericho vs The Undertaker is a huge match up that has to happen.Going by the results looks like RAW won the draft comfortably. Rey Rey returning home is nice and Jericho is a solid pickup but unless Punk can get himself majorly over it's a wash compared to losing Triple H and MVP(who can get over huge IMO).
The deadwood exchange of Big Show for Kane and a new scrub in the Miz so that Morrison(who has just about everything in his locker) can finally get his singles push were pretty non eventful for me.
