To be fair the whole conduct of the club over the last year could be seen as one big joke, I mean Joe Kinnear as manager and Ashleys atempt to sell the club would be perfect for April Fools
I know this will bite me on the arse in approximately 11 days time, but how's the view back over your shoulder? Nervous?

Am a natural pessimist (especially when it comes to sport) but i was genuinely worried for the first time on Saturday, played possibly the worst I've seen all season and have mounting injury problems. Still think we will do it though, seem stronger mentally than usual but most importantly I think we might get bailed out by those behind us losing their nerve as well.

I'd be interested to see what positions FIFA thinks those five (particularly Sercs and Obersteller) play.
Sercombe is a CM (although I've been using him on the wings). Obersteller is a LB. Harley is a CM (using him on the wings too though ;)). Seaborne is a CB (currently (c)) and Logan is a ST. Just realized I kept Moxey as well as a backup LM.

That's pretty much how they play for City, though Sercombe played right-back last night, after Dannys sending-off.

I wonder, does Seaborne get stupidly sent off on FIFA too?

Interestingly, I've never see Obersteller anywhere but LM or Sercs anywhere but the right flank. Must get to more games, obv.

I'm in the "not blaming Seabourne, blame the ref camp", but I can see how some were annoyed. I also think booking Cozic for being french, was understandable but harsh, too.

Well with Sercombe it was more, that he (ausage) played him on the wing. Obersteller hasn't played hardly at all. I thought he was nominally a left-back though, gone in the Summer by all accounts though.

Why do people keep ripping into Joe Kinnear's managerial ability whenever possible? He has a decent enough record, just seems like the usual sheep mentality following the media's line because it's fashionable and easier than thinking for oneself.

I don't think he is a terrible manager by any means (although he does seem pretty crazy). However his appointment from came absolutely nowhere and the whole saga could would have fit perfectly for an April fools joke. I was referring to the general context rather than him as a manager, having said that I think a really good manager could have kept Newcastle clear of relegation fairly easily this season.

If Newcastle wanted a fat route-one enthusiast they should've stuck with Allardyce. Kinnear's borderline mental. Check out his press conference performance on YouTube. The reporters he rips into aren't London-based media whores, but real north-easterners who care about Newcastle United FC and will still be reporting on them long after the fat ****ney Mick prick has slunk back to the south you love so very much.

Ask yourself a question: why was Kinnear out of work for 4 years after effectively relegating Notts Forest? A dodgy heart never stopped Fergie.

Bit of a risk by Shearer though isn't it? If he can't keep them up then that could be his shot at the Newcastle job gone. The cynic in me wants to suggest that he would have been better waiting until they had gone down and then being the man who brought them back up.

Then again, i did read a comparison on the BBC site earlier to when they got Keegan (first time round). Formerly worshipped player returns to a sinking ship with a small amount of games left to try and keep them up.

You've gotta say, the Shearer factor should see Newcastle pick up a few more points than they would have done, but in all honesty I think the club should be put out of business, the joke has gone on long enough now

And managers are known for being sane? Journalists deserve everything they get. Doesn't alter the fact he has a decent record as a manager.

By deduction the main reason he's been out of work is largely because of this reputation the media have built up that apparently he's useless. Obviously if it was because he's a turd then Big Scum would be busy sunning it up off his back-handers.

England looking decent without creating much although Barry having a bit of a nightmare so far. Still that first goal is crucial in a game like this.

Haven't missed a great deal really.

David James just being David James.

Lennon making it too easy for their left back by going on the outside every single time.
