That is true, but the Euros are the Euros and still a regional comp. If Greece had won the WC then they would be the clear winner.

Fair. Especially when you chuck in our arse European Nations record too. Two semis in 49 years. Bra-****ing-vo.

We're now out on our own as the great underperformers as well given Johnny Spaniard has finally got the hang of tournament football.

Except they haven't. Spain are still the same as they've always been. Look good if you let them, solid at the back but don't really create much. They'll get knocked out by any organised team who can take penalties or a genuine contender (such as a typical Germany/Brazil etc.).

They basically won the Euro 2008 without having to do anything. They needed penalties to get past Italy and the rest of the time they played 4 ****e teams and scraped past a very untypical Germany side in the final who played to Spain's strengths.

Alan Shearer is to manage Newcastle for the rest of the season, is he to be the saviour of Tyneside or just the last gamble of a desperate club? I think it was inevitable that he was going to become manager at some point and it is probably good for Newcastle that it happened sooner rather than later given that his shadow hung over every manager. Think they might just stay up, meaning he will be hailed as a hero, just for dissapointment next year as he fails to reach the stupidly high expectations which will then be set

Heh Exeter are fast becoming my second team. Been playing them on FIFA 09 psp version manager mode in sort of a bottom to top challenge so after a couple of months I've developed an affinity for the red, white and black. Got them to the dizzy heights of 3rd in the prem . Managed to keep some of the RL squad together as well. Harley, Seaborne, Obersteller, Logan and Sercombe are all going strong

Just thought I'd share. Go the Grecians.

To be fair the whole conduct of the club over the last year could be seen as one big joke, I mean Joe Kinnear as manager and Ashleys atempt to sell the club would be perfect for April Fools
