Well he definately deserved to get out for playing that shot. We need to hire a hypnotist to erase it from his memory. Still a fantastic innings though.

Gone! Good knock by Taylor. Need to catch the highlights later on tonight or tomorrow morning.

Interesting passage of play here for Franklin (although I would rather send out McCullum at this stage).

Ryder looking set for 150 - 200+ (unless the long partnership curse of two quick wickets strikes again).

Indeed. Should have been looking to bat through to the close by this stage I feel. Would have felt very good closing the day on about 330 for 3.

Had the displeasure of watching Taylor play that shot on TV. Had just seen him play a few fantastic other shots that were there to be hit too. In premeditating that awful shot might as well have put up a sign saying 'here India, I'm sick of batting, have my wicket'.

Disappointing because exposes us to losing a couple more before the close and losing all the advantage gained.

Anyone else get the feeling that Ross Taylor will be the Mark Waugh of NZ test cricket?

Most talented batsmen in the lineup, but gets bored easily and can't be arsed making a double or grinding it out.

I hope not and besides Ryder is a more talented batsman than Taylor. But I am disappointed with just how slow a learner he seems to be. He played the exact same shot against England in the Hamilton test last year, to get out from a pretty similar situation.

It just staggers me, I try to analyse what's happening when we're going well and get shouted down, but people are waiting in the wings for Taylor to finally get out and suddenly it's ok to criticise?
Just wait for Vettori to bowl badly and then I'll slag him off and promote Roneel Hira, just for you

;)

Hrmm, tbf I think the point people didn't like wasn't 'analysis' - it was the view that Taylor should somehow be made to pay or give back his good luck, and get out. If that's how it was meant to be read anyway. In my view, about time we had some damn luck this series!

In other news, India have the new ball. Have a bad feeling about this.

 Another lame decision, in NZ's favour this time. The umpiring series to date has been utter rubbish.
