Now that I'm done with Uni, I'm completely free to dedicate all my cognitive abilities towards the retention of absurdly esoteric cricket facts. YAY!
I envy you this. I'm at work and I find my cognitive abilities relating to cricket are somewhat impaired.

lol at posting the exact word for word post I was expecting

Just ftr, what does the fact that the fielder catches/drops a chance have to do with the batsman?
Because if the fielder drops the catch, the batsman gets to stay in the middle. If it's caught he's out. Kind of fundamental really.

lol, how many times do you hit the ball to fielders in the air before you deserve to be out?
Taylor's been lucky no doubt, but other days this summer he has not been. It's a different thing entirely to say that, because he's had the impertinence to edge a few into gaps, the big bad God of Luck should come along a smite him down now.

Do you comprehend the difference between what someone "deserves" and what "actually happens"?
I'm sorry, perhaps I'm struggling slightly due to the fact that no matter what angle I look at it from, I just can't take you're stance seriously. Taylor got a bit of luck early with a couple of edges and a dropped chance against a good attack armed with the new ball, looked a little bit edgy at times (which is unsurprising seeing as he's been in pretty indifferent form lately), and struggled a bit with nerves when he was in the 90's. He's also played some brilliant flowing strokes and has been commited to his usual agressive game. I don't see how because of that he deserves to be out.

First Chance Average.

Finally, this is what I and no doubt many cricket fans have been waiting for; the tantalising talents of Mister Taylor and Mister Ryder finally coming to the surface after promising so much for so long, especially in Taylors case.

Hope it becomes a regular thing.

Well, DWTA

I've seen it as a very dodgy and at times pretty brainless innings

Generally I like to see players get what I feel they "deserve". I'm happy for Taylor to ton-up but it wouldn't sit that comfortably with me, if, say, he made 200.

Since tea he's going pretty nicely so maybe I'll reassess how I feel about the innings

Reckon Ryder is going beautifully though

Still hate this pitch though. Unless NZ collapses (I admit by no means a distant possibility), this is already well on the way to being a complete bore draw.

Yeah, its looks a bat-fest.

If Franklin is given the new ball, and we prise a couple out early, and if the Indian middle order lose their heads against our spinners through over-confidence, we may get into the tail at 6/7 and put some real pressure on. Awful lot of ifs and buts there though. And a run filled draw looks the most likely outcome.

jeez....this is still a pretty crazy sort of innings from Taylor. imo he has basically reverted completely to ODI mode

I suppose this is just the way he plays best and I should roll with it.
