Taylor is playing a crazy innings here, but with some nice shots. Maybe he's taking the "I average more in ODIs so may as well pretend this is an ODI" approach?

A mixed over for Taylor off Ishant that highlights his shot selection problems. One four timed beautifully down the ground, and another struck back at Ishant, that he manages to stop. Earlier in the over, a slashed four through gully that could easily have gone to hand, and a woeful attempt at a hook shot way outside off stump.

Glimpses of quality that can have all been undone by a moment of sheer madness!

If it works then he can do that.

Love how these two are so the same yet so different. Both like to play shots, the difference is you feel Taylor could get out any time, whereas Ryder just looks so calm and unfazed. He's like Flynn mixed with McCullum.

Yeah, shock horror - you picked a middle order batsman with a good First Class record over more than one season to bat in the middle order... and he scored runs!

We might be on to something here.
We also picked him with a one day average of 22 in the middle order, . to open the batting in ODI"s and he succeeded, . shock horror. A player with talent succeeds.

fulton, has a high first class average. the highest in the country, along with Sinclair and those two didnt go very well. Its a mix of talent and temperament, and also a bit of luck. If you were to choose just on stats in domestic cricket we would open with Bell, also. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.

Good fightback from those two. Extremely disappointed with how Guptill got out though. Was a shocker.

McIntosh was pretty poor despite the wrong call on his decision.

Big bounce on this wicket and I have a feeling we'll see some cracks which should be a killer in the 4th innings. Dhoni out means we're a bit closer in this match then I thought initially. Its all about these first two innings though. Keep em within 50 of us boys.

It looks a 400 wicket. The problem is, New Zealand at the moment can't buy a score of those proportions. Definitely needs Jesse Wider to play like he did in the last game, then they've got a chance.

I think that the umpire actually carried out a mercy killing.

Is it too much to ask for another Dan-the-Man special as well?
