What if?...

My life would infinitely more productive and Id have more conversations with the wife.

What if the stumps were retractable at the bowlers end and they could bowl each ball at any of the full width of the crease?
Umpires would pose a problem; both physically and due to the bowler getting directly into their field of vision and preventing proper decision making.

What if he pitch was a yard shorter than it is?

Owais Shah might fail to run himself out quite so often.

What if Alan Sugar ran the BCCI?

Sri Lanka would have languished in mediocrity throughout the 1990s and 2000s until Ajantha Mendis comes along in 2008 and is nicknamed "the first Murali", a paradoxical nickname which then proceeds to destroy the universe.

Q. What if speed guns were never invented?

Md Sami might never have played cricket, perhaps.

What if cricket balls had the same size, weight and seam, but were made of synthetic core and cover instead of cork & lacquered leather, such that they didnt lose shine or become soft after even 100 overs.

Spin bowling is unheard of and the makers of Murray Mints are forced into liquidation.

What if: Bert Oldfield had died after being struck on the head by Larwood?

That question has already been asked on Page 2.

What if that question hadn't already been asked?

LT would not have replied: That question has already been asked on Page 2.

What if fielders were allowed to wear baseball gloves? (sorry but I am running out8-))
Would have a lot more trouble trying to rub the ball against their groin/thigh.

What if all test matches started off with two balls, a new ball from one end and an old ball from the other?

Would the old ball get newer each over, like Benjamin Button, until the two balls were briefly the same age?

Picking two spinners would be standard practice and reverse swing would've been discovered/invented earlier.

What if cricket was a 15-a-side game like Rugby Union instead of 11-a-side?

Bowling on flat pitches would be even worse, the WI would have picked more fast bowlers to kill people with, keepers would be picked on catching only, two or three spinners would be standard.

EDIT: better ask a question. hmmmm, its my "be patriotic about bowlers" day today in light of reading Warren Lees crap article so:

How would, no actualy, would anybody remember Jack Cowie this time round if he played in the modern era and be rightfuly recognised as the number two NZ seamer after Hadlee?

Who?

What if Imran Khan had been ugly?
Wouldn't have gotten as much *****cat as he did in England, and resultant lack of incentive would have forced him to play a lot more domestic cricket in Pakistan.

What if Dennis Lillee had no facial hair and was ginger?

Rangas would be cool and the world as we know it would be over.

What if Nasser Hussain had not inserted Australia at the Gabba?

They would still have lost.

What if Belgium, the inventor of cricket, was its current World Champion?

There would be more than 3 famous Belgians as there is now.

What if the toss and the choice of ball was determined by an arm wrestle?

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
Flintoff and Symonds would be leading their team (presuming captains did the arm wrestle), and your Pontings, Dravids, Flemings would probably never lead their team.

What if Sourav Ganguly chose to bat first in the 2003 WC Final?
