Finally a test worthy talent. And the thread is yet to get to the second page. Had it been David Warner, it'd have run to tens of pages.

Not Terrible
Hughes is so awesome, will kill New Zealand in Tests for years to come. Hopefully Guptill will do similar to Australia.

International Debutant
What does everyone think of Hughes opening the batting in ODIs? Surely he has to be given a chance at some stage, especially once Watson comes back and hopefully Hopes is dropped. We could have Hughes replace Marsh at the top and open with Hughes-Watson, or Hughes-Haddin.

In the future, yes. His style of batting would suit the one day arena. He still has a lot to prove in the FRC before he deserves a spot in the Australian team. Made some useful 50's this season in both the FRC and the 20/20, but he is yet to dominate like he has in the Sheffield Shield.

Let's see him make some hundreds for NSW first.

Anyone else chuckle at the slight blowout from the commentator when he says "It has been a super knock"?

He is the second coming of the entity known as Don Bradman. Maybe not that, but what a player, what a start... he will experience poor form at some point but he looks like he'll come through it well- I can't see anything except a brilliant future for him.
