What if?...

Australia would have still been too good for England, and Bradman would still have been considered the greatest batsman of all time.

Aust captain would have been Brown, and the teams would have gotten on much better.

What if Warne would have been good enough to play Footy for St.Kilda?
Australia would have shared series with South Africa throughout the 90s.

That's because he was a wonderful bowler - but he was always well down on pace after 1932/33
Well, quite. Wonderful enough to have made a difference to the test team perhaps, down on pace or no.

As vic didn't leave a ponderable:

What if - it was cricket rather than association football that'd caught on with the natives after the formation of the Milan Football and Cricket Club (now known to the world as AC Milan)?

Ted Dexter would never have played for Sussex and England 'cos he could've played for the city and country of his birth

What if Ted Dexter had beaten Jim Callaghan and got into Parliament at the 1964 general election?

We may have missed one of the most boring series in cricket history, and it would have suited his monical of Lord Ted

What if ODI cricket had started in 1920/21?

Test cricket would have declined post-war as people looked to embrace excitement and the dull Test criket of the 50s and 60s would have been avaoided. T20 would have been a Packer invention.

What if there was no LBW but a player could be caught of any external piece of protective equipment.

The saying "Its not cricket," would never have been invented

Helmets would have been in vogue circa 1900, and slow bowlers would not be here

What if they brought back the back foot no ball law?

Not sure about that. Less people would wear helmets as you could get caught off them and slow bowlers would get many pad catches.

It would be the medium pacers that would suffer,

The umpires would get more decisions right.

What If: Their was a rule which styated that the wicketkeeper had to stand up to all bar two of a sides bowlers?

The West Indies of the 80s wouldn't have been anywhere near as invincible.

What if Kevin Pietersen had been incorrectly given out off the first ball he faced in his second innings in the 5th Test at the Oval?

Kaka would either be turning out for City, or be a star cricketer

What if Basil D'Olivieira jad never been born?

Another "coloured" cricketer would have done what he did, albeit probably a few years later, with similar results.

What if after his death, Don Bradman was revealed to have been of extraterrestrial origin?

People would have nodded knowingly and said "well, that explains a lot..."

What if the West Indian spinners had done their job at Port-of-Spain in 75/76 and India hadn't scored 406 in the fourth innings to win?

I think they would bowl more bouncers, but you could be right about the spinners:)

Not much difference I fear, The Cat loved pace, even when in charge of Lancs, even when they played Aust on a real turner at the SCG he hardly gave Harper a bowl (or is that just how I remember it?)

What if bowlers had always been ltd to a 10 pace run up?

We'd get through 90 overs in a day.

What if: Ricky Ponting had of been given out during the 4th Ashes test in 2001 and hadn't scored a century?

Flintoff would have taken 7-15 in Australia's innings, helping to bowl them out for 39 and win the series 3-1

Instead of asking one of my own I will restate Kyle's, to get the thread back on track:

Ponting is dropped from the test side and returns to his native Tasmania. Resigned to the life of an honest Sheffield Shield pro he's talented spotted by PG Tips as the ideal replacement for the chimpanzees formerly used in their adverts. After finding fame in this second sphere he blows a fortune as he develops a tragic banana addiction and was last heard of eeking out a living doing humerous impressions of George W Bush for weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs.

What if: pads were made illegal?

Shins would get sore. And players would probably take guards outside leg with off-side play dominating.

What if Simon Jones had remained fit after the 2005 Ashes?

King Pietersen

International Captain
England would have a far better bowling attack and actually look capable of taking wickets on flat tracks.

What if Kevin Pietersen had decided to stay in South Africa and work on his game there?
