Basically a poll for the best 5 cricketers who were a part of 90's and 00's.In no particular order

Sachin
Lara
Warne
Murali
Kallis

McGrath and Gilchrist ahead of Kallis for me. Steve Waugh as well, but that's probably just a personal preference.

Sachin
Lara
Murali
Warne
Kallis

Very hard on Ponting, Gichrist, McGrath and Sangakkara though

I'd go with the same 5. Strange thing is today morning I was wondering what point marks the start of the modern age from the cricket pov, and I'd settled on SA's re-entry into International cricket.

Look, I'm not a massive Ponting fan but he's better than Kallis.

Basically you want the top 5 cricketers of the last 19 years, right?

Lara
Tendulkar
Warne
Muralitharan
McGrath

Ponting, Gilchrist, Kallis incredibly unlucky. Not to mention about 10 others who are right up there.

Warne
McGrath
Sachin
Murali
Ponting

Massive bias letting me fit Ponting in there, despite the fact that Lara is probably more deserving at this stage.

Somehow I accidentally voted for 6.

McGrath
Warne
Murali
Gilchrist
Lara
------
Ponting
Tendulkar
------
the rest.

Honestly, Warne and Murali are the two greatest spinners ever. Gilchrist changed the way the game is played. McGrath is the best quick bowler of the era, and probably in the top 2 quicks of the last 100 years. Lara was the best of the three Great batsmen of the era.

Wasim has 3 votes. Apart from me and Andyc (who's voted for everyone anyway) there's only one other person who's voted for him. Pretty ludicrous really.

MInd you I have to say I'm starting to tire of these polls.

The problem is that they're first past the post polls. When rating players you really want a preferential system IMO. Or at least a graded system. That way you would be able to give bowlers like Akram the respect he deserves, without having to imply that he's one of the best five players of the last two decades.

I ended up with no specialist batsmen, which TBH surprised even myself. I almost felt like SS for a second, but then I remembered I picked two spinners.
