Hopes is probably in some of the best bowling form of his career right now. Was arguably Australia's best bowler for much of the recent ODI's. Is picking up some good wickets for Queensland and is bowling with terrific rhythm.
Unfortunately Hopes does not really look test quality at all. Does not possess the tools to trouble international batsmen at that level. Likeable guy though, real hard worker.
Would say the same thing about Ronald, but alas he is already in the test side.

SA going at four-and-a-half per over after lunch at the WACA, Mass about to score his 2nd ton of the season, aside from a few 50's this year too. Good season for him.
SA making a bit of a habit of doing this now; preserve wickets pre-lunch then up the rate in the middle session. Good signs for next season (hopefully).

Some great signs for SA cricket towards the tail end of the season. For all fans it has been a tough recent few years. It is only a shame the batsmen are starting to get it all together now, along with some decent bowlers being unearthed. Imagine if things clicked whilst Klinger was on his early/mid season rampage.
Hoping one of Cullen or Bailey turns out next season and really stamps their authority back on the game. South Australia look such a better team when one of them is on form. South Australia cannot keep relying upon Christian, Cosgrove, Harris and O'Brien to bowl a significant portion of overs. An in-form spinner will change that.

Not getting hopes up yet, SA always have a late season charge when contracts are up for grabs. Still, it's been a while since SA unearthed decent new bowlers and in Haberfield and George. With Cleary and Tait and, as you said, if one of the Cullens kicks on, that's a dangerous bowling line-up. SA are always better when they have a decent battery of pacers working as a team rather than relying on one brilliant bowler. It's what the last Shield win was built on, more so than the batting, really (which was still solid).

Add to that a return to form / favour of Paul Rofe. He is still young, and really has all the tools to build a bowling attack around.

True but they dispose of him pretty quickly. Liability in the field and with the bat whereas the new crop and Cleary are just decent athletes. Can't imagine we'd see him in the SA team for a while.

Yeah symmo is real martin with the bat.Yes weak attack this game,would have rathered hazelwood,starc,cokcley and steve smith to be honest.

Hmm, was probably saying what everyone else was thinking though. You had Warner and Henriques getting IPL contracts on the back of nothing, when at that stage Victoria had won three consecutive Twenty20 titles and unproven (both at domestic levels, and Twenty20) players are getting big coin ahead of them.
Plus the fact that the Vics had missed out on the Champions League, and I reckon it was an attitude reflected throughout Victorian ranks at the time.

Yeah, but from all reports he didn't have much control over trying to get some of his Victorian players. Unless his bosses really wanted them. Mosies and Warner were picked from performances in the Emerging series as much as anything.

Give you one guess at what his nickname is.
From Waaia in country Victoria. Bowls at pretty good pace, and gets good late hoop. When he gets it right, can bowl to a FC standard. Has his days where he's not all that great though. Reckon a game here woudl be good for him, not a bad long term FC prospect.
