BARNES OUT
Katich is older tbh and was older when he gained his place back.
He also had a decent test and ODI pedigree and just broke all kinds of run-scoring records. Rogers is probably next in line if Hughes fails but he'd have to consider himself lucky if he does get another chance, he's been performing well but nowhere near the level Katman was last season.

Some very interesting games of cricket occuring today.

Mark Cleary has had a terrific start against WA after his poor showing last week. Much needed from a SA point of view as they are only playing the 3 specialist bowlers.

Exciting to see Khawaja up at the Gabba compile a century. Will probably be called up for Australian honours now.

Also interested to hear any information on Steve Gilmour from Victoria. I have never seen him bowl, all I know is that he has had a solid club season.

Why is Cullen Bailey not playing, is he injured?
I believe the pitch is slightly wet/fast bowlers wicket. Notice that WA has gone in without a spinner too.

Would be quite dissapointing for Bailey, takes 8 wickets then gets the drop. Pitch cannot be too harsh on spinners, O'Brien has 2 wickets and bowled a decent quantity of overs.

Interesting how many of the state sides have gone in with only 3 specialist bowlers. Perhaps setting a precedent for the test side.

NSW looks like it may have to rely upon Henriques and Thornley as 4th and 5th bowler.

WA have the 3 frontline pacemen. I hope South Australia don't bat all day tomorrow, no real spin bowling option other than Vogues left arm trundlers.

Even Queensland, 3 frontline bowlers plus the all-rounders.

The thing with Queensland and New South Wales, though, is that they've still picked their four best bowlers. Some of them just happen to be decent bats as well.

South Australia haven't done that, granted. :p

How bad is Bird's action? Heard it mentioned on CW before as suspect.

Had quick look on YooToob but couldn't see anything.

Geez, Mark Clearly picks up yet another 4-fer. Seriously, he has some aversion to taking 5-fers it seems. Maybe he had a bad experience with the Witches of Eastwick as a kid.

Good to see SA with a team bowling performance, especiall the new guys doing well. That said, late-season wins are nothing new. Let's see them do it when they're actually in the finals race!

Been well documented on here. I've been commenting on it since early 2006 iirc.

It's a shocker.
