I am thinking of taking by bat and ball home and not voting:@

I think this poll should be restarted with Akram included, is there a chance of this?

If no, I will vote for Ambrose, not because I think him better then Lillee but because his height might give some added bounce:)

Apart from being the most significant development in modern cricketing history it probably has no relevance.

so is it assumed that cricket is played differently in post Packer period than it was in pre Packer one?
Players are now professionals rather than amateurs. It makes a difference in the way that the game is played.

in a sense, yes. more stress on one day cricket resulting in faster scoring rates, helmets, covered wickets in tests, commercialization of cricket resulting in more matches, india's emergence as a big cricket market resulting in cricket administration changing hands are some of the significant differences between pre-packer and post packer era. not all of them can be attributed to packer series and not everyone of them has resulted in different playing standards but the eras are divided nicely by this phenomenon that took away top cricketers from international matches for sometime - ending a few good careers also resulting in the budding of a few new ones in the process. almost like WW 1 and WW2 bookending other eras.

archie... vote in this poll, mate. wont be able to have another one for this position.
want to start the post ww2 - pre packer thread asap. will try a different scheme to select that team.

In the presence of 3 great fast bowlers like Imran, Hadlee and Marshall, you don't need a fourth one. I would go for Murali to complete a pair of spinners with Warne. 3 genuine quickies and a pair of off and leg spin, a perfect bowling combination.

Nah, Lillee would be, cause on subcontinental pitches, he'd be 0/200 after 60 overs in a match in which he has no chance of forcing a result. ;)

Mcgrath instead of one of the spinners. U dont need both. Mcgrath more effective in more parts of the world than both bowlers. Come to think of it. Mcgrath >than all the other bowlers (with the possible exception of the late great MM where i consider both to be equal)
