Maybe Punter wanted to Test them out big time? If so, he got what he wanted. ;)

Don't like McGain's chances this tour, must be said. Whether that be because he gets injured or gets belted.
Meh, you wouldn't be saying that if he had 2/15. He'll go fine.

Forgot McDonald was playing tbh, probably go at 10-an-over on this deck

Interesting that Mcdonald hasn't had a bowl yet.
I think we are giving the frontline bowlers as much bowling as they can in the conditions before the first test, but it is indeed interesting that he hasn't had a trundle yet. Hope it isn't injury related.

Century for Khan. Only the 5th of Imraan's career and this is his 60th first class game. Shocking stat for an opener.

5 100's and 23 50's at an average of 37.55 ain't too shabby for a 24 year old. With 60 games under his belt he is pretty experienced as well, looks the goods for the future.

Johnson has played in SA before in the ODIs but went for runs.
He has just bowled three overs in ODI cricket in South Africa, played in the T20 world cup there, and bowled pretty well, so he should do well in these conditions.

Welcome to Cricket Chat Borcs. (Y) People who visit here regularly know I don't rate McGain. No dramas.

Nah he would. He's not Heal, hence he doesn't rate him. Probably would pick Heal over Warne and Murali in an all-time side.
Heal isn't in my Favourite XI atm, shouldn't be anywhere near the Test Side atm and very, very likely never should/will. But nice/mature all the same.

The bowling effort so far has been very disappointing, though it has to be said that the pitch seems to be pretty flat, probably would have been better had Ponting decided to bat first here.

Anyways, still this performances so far has kind of showed up the inexperience of the Aussie bowling attack, its almost like there is a boundary ball on offer in every over, which seems to taking off all the pressure of the batsmen, dropping Khan early on also didn't help matters, that is another thing the Australian team needs to take care of, given the inexperience factor of the Aussie bowlers, the fielders have to take every chance that comes there way.

practice matches like this are all but meaningless, don't read anything into it myself. Although the point probably stands that this is the least experienced Aussie attack since Packer. Will be interesting to see how they cope with the SA Test team. Johnson thrust into the leader role way before his time.

Wessels described McGain as average.
Well even calling him average at this stage is pretty generous of him, McGain is definitely the best spin bowler in Australia by a distance, but still he would have to do well at the international level to gain people's respect.

McDonald is coming on now, good news.

The runs are slowing down a lot now, runs are getting harder to come by for the South African's, Hilfenhaus and Siddle doing well bowling in tandem.
