Been low for a while now though…

His had numerous opportunities and even when he managed to make some runs he looked awful. Xavier Marshall doesn’t score a run but he can still look partially decent for his twenty minutes at the crease.

Chattergoon isn't Brenton Parchment bad but he doesn't strike me as international class.
Not that long tbh. He looked pretty solid on debut against Sri Lanka, then got injured. He came back to face Australia and got injured again, bravely choosing to bat down the order with his injury in the second innings. He returned against New Zealand and looked totally out of sorts. Worth noting that he wouldn't have had any first-class cricket between his injury in June and his return in December.

If numerous opportunities if one full series (of 3 innings) and two isolated Tests, one when injured, then ditch him by all means.

Of course it is a different format but he has had many chances to establish himself in the West Indian ODI side. For sure he could score zero runs in those games (he practically did) and you can argue successfully that it has no bearing on the way he would play in tests but I think it does to men such as John Dyson and he isn't in the present test side after not being able to hit the ball of the square during a recent one day series.

His batting is much more suited to Test cricket though, because he favours stickability. I don't consider his ODI performances to have anything to do with his Test merits, though I do think he needs some first-class cricket under his belt to regain his confidence. Chattergoon is a good player, but he had a very unfortunate debut year.

This could really get a bit bad for us if we don't get wickets soon... it's okay everyone getting some overs under their belts but at this rate they're going to be pretty exhausted.

You would be half tempted to bowl the part-timers given the conditions and score but on the other hand, Simmons could score something outrageous (pretty bad already) and you may not get a bat until tea tomorrow.

Nah, im worried now for sure.

Edit: Well England's bowlers couldn't have asked for a better work out, haha. Ther performances of Simmons & Barath kind of shows how strong Trinidad & Tobago cricket it the WI.

Ben Scott would have caught it!

Yeah - I saw they changed the bowling figures. Still it seems Anderson is keeping it tighter than Harmy.

But hopefully the test pitches won't be this pointless.

This could come under scrutony, but don't see how you can leave Simmons out, especially if he reaches 300 - surely that's staking a ligitamate claim to get in to the team... how often in the West Indies do you see a score past 150, so to be nearing 300 is an achievement that's not to be underrated. Rather see someone who is clearly in some good form than Richards or maybe Dev Smith... despite small boundaries and uninspired bowlers a 300 is practically unheard of in the Windies.

Clearly England's most lethal spinner. 8-)

Disclaimer: He is a nice bloke and Krezja had a worse tour match against India.
