Great news to have Mitchell Johnson back in the side for tomorrow, unfortunate that Hilfy is out though. 12 man squad so far but can't see Hauritz playing in this one.

I'd drop White for Hauritz tbh, even though I want to drop Hopes, we need that fourth seamer withput Symonds.

That'd leave us with:

6 Haddin
7 Hopes
8 Johnson
9 Hauritz

Which is still decent enough.

"The Haddin hype" hey. Well he is a lot better than White and Hopes from what I have seen. And he is a better opening option than Hopes and Hussey IMO. I'd be happy for him to be given an opportunity to open, because he needs to be batting higher than 7. he should be batting 5 or 6 in the team as it currently looks.

With the inclusion of Johnson, his batting does open the door to drop White, I agree.

I guess hopes has to stay in as he is the only allrounder we have who is likely to bowl 10 overs and have some success. Can't imagine White doing much damage with the ball

I like White. But of Dussey is to be used as a bowler ahead of him, there is no room for him in a full strength side. Plus Haddin at 7 and Hopes 8 is a tad over the top IMO. Hauritz could play a supportive role at 8 and Johnson a powerful role.

Though not suggesting even for a second that Haddin should open or anything, but the way he is hitting the ball atm, he seems to be a bit wasted at no.7, has been a tremendous batsman for NSW in the middle-order and i think he should be batting in the top 6 of the Australia ODI side too.

I agree with the idea of dropping White, he really isn't chipping in with anything substantial for the team' cause and due to him Australia are playing with one bowler less, so my XI for tomorrow' game would be:

2.D.Warner
3.R.Ponting
4.M.Hussey
5.D.Hussey
6.B.Haddin
7.J.Hopes
8.M.Johnson
9.N.Hauritz
10.N.Bracken
11.S.Tait

With those lineups, we're basically using White as a specialist batsman and Hopes as a specialist batsman (being so low down the order) which is definitely not on. Since when did James Hopes become one of the top 10 seamers in the country? and since when did Cam White become one of the top 10 ODI batsmen in the country?

So the question stands at, which is worse, trying Haddin as an opener for a couple of games, or playing bits and pieces as specialists?

If we're not counting Hodge, as appears to be the case, then White is comfortably in the top 10 ODI batsmen in the country, I'd have said. What's more, he should continue to improve until the 2011 WC, so it makes sense for him to be in the team now.

Cameron White is definitely among the Top 10 OD batsmen in Australia, but he is a top order batsman and for him to show his true worth he needs to bat in the top 4 or 5 and that where he has done well for Vics and Somerset, but there is no chance of him batting there in the current Aussie line-up.

Haddin has been a tried and tested failure as an opener for both NSW and Australia, Haddin has been prolific in the middle order for the Blues and he should stay there, but i am pretty certain this experiment with Dave Warner is gonna fail and then Australia might have to look at some other option till Watto comes back.

Anyways Hopes is certainly not picked because he is among the top 10 seamers in Australia, because that's not how teams are picked, you have gotta balance things out when you pick an XI, and that's why Hopes is there in the side, because he can chip in with both bat and ball, his contributions with the ball have been very decent and had he been batting at a fixed slot, then maybe he would have chipped in decently with the bat too.
