Isn't that what the Indians said after winning the ODI series yet he took 4-10 in the next game? He's not perfect, you can't blame him for having one bad game Sri Lanka were quite pathetic to say the least. If Pakistan play at their optimum, i don't think they can be beaten by anyone tbh. Ahktar, Tanvir, Anjum, Gul is an tough pace attack to contend with plus part timers like Afridi and Malik can choke the runs down during the middle overs. These two openers who are in superb form as well as Khan, Malik, Afridi, Akmal and Misbah. That's a powerful batting line-up. If they had a quality world class spinner, then they would be unstoppable.

SL deserved to loose this one. Pathetic and brainless batting has let down a wonderful bowling attack. If SL were bowling at a target of 270, then things would have been not so rosy. But all credits to **** boys. They were the better team. Hope for a better batting performance (especially a responsible one) from SL next time.

Bowling was very good. It could have defended 260 with some luck. 275 would have been very defendable. Mendis had a bad game, he'll be back next time.

Mahela is a poor ODI bat.

He just looks terrible at the bottom of his form. I think he has these cyclic form farces once every two years. He has played some glorious knocks i.e world cup semi final and he was the player of the series in the last ODI encouter in Pakistan.

Disagree, we need to have changes in the pace department. It just lacks some penetration and the steady medium pace of Kulasekara and Thushara isn't going to bother the Pakistan batsmen at all. Fernando must come in, he's improved of late and is the fastest bowler in the squad. He also had some success in their previous encounter after the world cup.

Regarding Mendis, i didn't think he bowled that badly. Poor captaincy and fielding placements was the main problem and this pitch was way too slow as opposed to the one that bamboozled the indians. He probably bowled too quickly, doesn't quite have the mind of a Warne or Murali yet who both have the ability to acclimatize to unfavourable conditions. I think he'll be back to his best in the next game but SL won't win the series.

Mubarak is getting to be a pain now...I wonder why Vandort can't take his place. Yes, he crawled in his only ODI, but he's got a superior List-A limited overs average. Maybe not Vandort, but there are better options available for SL.

No point in blaming him. Actually he has saved our asses many times when were were looking at plain embarassment. He has been terribly unlucky with last few run outs. He's a gun fielder, better than any current Indian or Pakistani fielder. Giving him an extended run, I would not mind, because he's one of the very rare SL cricketers who use their heads.

Fernando is too wayward. There is a case that he could be brought on for Thushara in the next match, but Thushara on average is faster than Fernando. If Thushara let's it go he'll be close to 145k., and today also he hit 140k mark few times. Kulasekara, keeps performing, I don;t know how to drop him, but if Fernando needs to come, then it will be him. I would drop Mubarak or Kapugedara (latter IMO) and bring in Matthews, who will bring some bouncy medium pace in to picture.

Mendis was neutered to some extent in the ODIs in Sri Lanka.

Batting of SL has always revolved around Jayasurya, and the matches in Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and earlier in Sri Lanka against India are proof of this. I am getting worried at Jayawardene's continued failures in the ODIs.

We all know that Kapugedara and Matthews are better than Mubarak. But Mubarak is the only with in the team with Sanga and Jaya who has balls not to succumb to pressure.

How someone predict about cricket? You can't be sure of the next ball in cricket and you are talking about the next 2 games.

My Take on the game.

Sri Lanka batting was loose any side that gives 4 wickets to Rao deserved to be hammered.

Shoaib looked rusty and it could be possible that he might have lost it permanently now, I say gave him 3 games in this series if he dosen't perform get Sohail Khan in and see how he copes up.

Gul is now surely our #1 seamer bowled with good pace too.

Manzoor looked short of international quality against the seamers, handled the spinners well so maybe there can be a case of him shifting down the order and let the aggressor Nasir Jamshed open with Butt.

Butt looked classy, wish he can be more consistent, I have hopes of him re-emerging like Gambhir still long way to go.

Malik's captaincy again looked clueless got lucky due to Lanka's reckless batting he allows the game to drift a lot.

One random odi victory does not gloss over the fact that the current Pakistan side is very ordinary.Just look at our issues.

Our best batsman cant play for us.

Out of our two best bowlers one is serving a ban while the other is on his final legs.

The Keeper cant even catch a cold.

Our main spinner is a joke his first wicket comes after he has conceded over 100 runs.

No settled opening pair yet.

We continue to play mediocre talents like Rao, Tanvir when genuine talent like Talha and Sohail Khan are still waiting for their chances.

Till these problems are eradicated I don't see Pakistan challenging top 4.

there comes a time when a captain looks at himself in the mirror and thinks why is he wasting a space in the eleven when he cannot contribute, Mahela must take a breather go back to SSC and score runs and come back into the team this happend before as well.

Sanga has the annoying ablity to run people out, Maharoof didnt think when he played that shot.

Well played to Pakistan Openers they showed this was a 300 runs pitch. Mendis is not god its not fair to expect him to deliever every 10 overs he bowls.
