Fair enough. Just surprised to see a reigning champ who's ranked so high at such (relatively) long odds. Might invest a cheeky fiver.
Yeah I did it after he lost Gulbis. Get on with me Brumby. He is far more likely to turn it on in the Open.

He's the defending champion FFS, and he just won the Masters Cup a few months ago.

Murray's odds are a joke. Nadal at 4s is the value here IMO. Also you can actually get Novak at 8s now.
He's a British bookies potential worst nightmare: a British winner. The patriotic pound means that any Brit's odds are far shorter in the UK than logic would dictate. If he wins I imagine the layers will get bum raped.

For that reason alone I hope he does.

Not really, he's been the form player for a while now.
As Federer says, he's never won a grand slam and is ranked 4th in the world. His good form puts him in with a shout but he can't be favourite, surely?

I met someone when i was working in a bar in Belfast with the general policy of betting against England. Whatever the sport, whoever they're playing, he'd always always bet against England. It was his tactic to take advantage of the phenomenon you just described. Whether he had any success i don't know (obviously he claimed he did).

Anyway, i was checking the odds online where there's a bit of international standardisation to iron it out. I guess the margin isn't what it used to be. In any case, Federer's now become clear favourite.

Nice work from Tomic to win his first round match, even if his opponent wasn't exactly top class. Saw the 2nd set over lunch, looked like he lost all concentration. Did well to fight back from a break down to win the last set.

Very good performance by Tomic to get past Starace. Starace is rubbish on hard courts, but still impressive for a 16-year old. His backhand is something else.

Will struggle a lot against Muller-Lopez, though.

Tomic showed a lot of class today, his second round match will be far tougher but it's not impossible. Massive effort to make the second round.

It'll definately be helped by the fact they are going deep into the fifth (11-10 at the moment). Could be difficult to recover from a long match in the heat.

Dokic going the good old fashinoned choke here, cant see her winning from her as much as I'd like to see it.

Muller and Lopez now been on court for 5 hours 20 minutes. Look out Roddick and El Yanoui

Cilic in action out on court 19, like him a lot, I reckon he could be a darkhorse to be in the last 4 or 8.

Muller beats Lopez in 5 hours and 34 minutes, 16-14 in the fifth. Probably a better result for Tomic.

Best thing about Tomic's performance is he showed a lot of class, with some good touch. Obviously needs to build his serve and groundstrokes, but very promising signs.

Dokic through the hard way.

Dokic lives in my apartment building, saw her downstairs yesterday and she looked stressed as. Good to see she won.

Typical Erakovic slow start, broken in the first game. Breaks back straight away though. And holds, and breaks, 3-1. Sweet.

Yeah, she's definitely got going now. Took the first set and up a break in the second.
