This game is like an exact replica of the opener of the VB series in 05/06 where Boucher played the Duminy and then Morkel role at the end.

Aussie fielding has been poor during this batting power-play, and tbt this should have been the period that they should have been at their sharpest.

Good stuff from the Saffies, I think we really blew it big time with our batting, should have got over 300 with that start and the early luck we had. Johnson must come back for the game on Sunday, has rested long enough. Playing Hopes as one of the four main bowlers should never be done again either.

Pretty good game, SA chased well. Great hitting from Morkel at the end, and Duminy and McKenzie paced it well, even if McKenzie looks all over the place at times with his shot selection.

Ponting did a pretty good job captaincy wise but Australia needed to break the 4th wicket partnership earlier. Was always going to be tough defending with the power play to come. Having said that, I thought Australia were home with 5 overs left, Morkel was brilliant, and the fielding was pretty dire.

Well paced innings by the South Africans. Crucial part was the Duminy-McKenzie partnership, kept wickets in the bank and kept that margin between balls left and runs required no more than 15 throughout.

Obviously Morkel was immense, but the supporting role by Botha was fantastic too.

Australia today messed it up by relying on Hussey and Clarke to chip in with 10 overs, that's where they were really hurt, they have ridiculous amount of batting in the team atm, which has left the bowling a bit too light, though bringing back Johnson is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, i think he should rest as scheduled, the way to go is to drop a batsman and pick either Harris or Hauritz instead, as the problem is by stuffing the team with 8 batsmen, the likes of Haddin and Hopes are required to bat as low as 7 and 8, which again is pretty ridiculous, with Watto in the side, the current balance might have worked well, but it just won't work the way things are atm.

Anyways well played South Africa, they were clearly better when it mattered.

Botha annoys me to no end, a talentless, ugly and possibly illegal actioned slow 'bowler' unable to bat or field, captains a team to a win.

Australia should take a good hard look at themselves, because if at least Smith was captaining we could say that the better side won, but not this time.

Need to take an axe and cut out bits and pieces players and put specialists up instead. If Hopes isn't bowling, then he has virtually no role in the team with the bat. Cam White, does he command a position as a specialist? Surely we can use that position to maybe blood a youngster like Warner or Hughes. Also you can't have Hussey as a specialist bowler, he deserves maybe 2-3 overs per game.

In all seriousness I think that Ponting wasn't able to captain properly under the new conditions.

He captains like an U/12..

But if he had bowled White ????? They might have kept the runs down a little more. Clarke was a liability and Hopes a Joke.

Yeah, because White's renowned for keeping it tight in ODIs. If Ponting had bowled him and he'd been smashed for 15 off an over, people would be on here bashing him. Ponting captained pretty well tonight, but the team was definitely a bowler short.
