Maybe I'm rushing to judgement again, but Shaun Tait has been garbage so far. I used to think the world of him but he seems a shadow of his former self. It's like he's got one good opening over in him and then, when the batsmen become familiar with his short/full modus operandi, they take him apart in his remaining overs. I hope he can rectify things as he sure was an absolute jet in WC07.

He gets stumped for 2 and this post doesn't mention Hussey at all.
Nah, so typical of the Aust. public, has a blip in form, "oh noez drop him". Forgetting about the fact that over the last few years he's guided Australia to limited overs victories with both patient and blistering innings. Last night was the perfect reminder of just how good the bloke is.

It's also worth nothing that hardly 12 months ago he slapped a casual 100* odd in the IPL.

BARNES OUT
What's going on with this outfield?
It's been rubbish all season (though I think it was pretty good for the New Zealand test, so maybe it started just after that). That's actually the best I've seen it in a little while. QLD played SA in a domestic OD game and it was basically a sandpit.

Amazing really that this is only Tait's 11th T20 match domestic + international. He's really quite inexperienced in this form of the game, despite all the talk of him being a T20 specialist.
He hasn't played in England or the IPL. That's why his experience is so low. Each side only plays 5 T20 games a season in Aus IIRC, so 11 is about average for most Australian domestic specialists, especially as he'd have spent some time in the Australian squads around the time of the last few Big Bashes.

Can't believe they sent Michael Hussey in at a time like this, I guess they think this is like a timeless test or something.
Wow.

I really hope not.
Clarke is probably the best candidate really. Jaques/Rogers/Hughes what are they like in the slips? Other players probably arent right, Ponting is set in at 2nd, Katich can't catch anywhere else how will he take one there? Symonds' if he's back looked rubbish when he went in there once or twice, plus he's too good in the field.
If not Clarke then Hussey but I think Pup might be able to make a better go of it, particuarly if hes going to be the next captain.

Was under the impression Rogers & Hughes were slippers? That said, I don't think either of them will make the side barring Injury to other players. Might be McDonald if he gets another run?

If Rogers gets a game he could be an option, that catch he took at point in the his only test shows he has pretty good judgement and a decent set of hands.

Red hair, glasses, freckle face = clearly not marketable/selectable.

What about Stuart Clark. Is he marketable?

I've seen him in KFC ads, including that one where everyone slaps his head.

I think you are being a bit too harsh on him, he was brilliant in the first T20 game, he has been gun in most OD games he has played for the Redbacks this season, and just one bad T20 game doesn't make him garbage, but what you said about him bowling either short or full is true though, and that has always been a problem with Tait, just like a young Brett Lee, he too doesn't tend to bowl much in the good length area, which is an area of his game he needs to work on.

Clarke is the only option tbh, the rest shouldn't even be considered, Hussey is good at gully so he should stay there, but there is no doubt the standard of Aussie slip cordon has gone down alarmingly, with the retirements of Hayden, Warne and Langer.

Hayden will be missed in slips, and Warne was pretty good, though he dropped quite a few sitters along the way but I always though Langer was good without being anywhere near outstanding in the field.

I believe Aussies should use the ODI series the try to find out who the best spinner in the country is. If that means playing McGain, Krezja, Hauritz, Doherty, Casson etc. all in the same team, so be it.

Finding a good spinner is way more important than winning some stupid one day series everybody will forget in another month.
8-) Yeah making these bowlers all bowl in an ODI will really show who the best Test spinner is.

So dire if you are someone like Nathan Bracken who isn't in the Test frame really.. The selectors say "Bracks sorry, we have decided to go with the DingDong approach and play the 5 spinners all in the same team".

Don't think Marsh should be given a free ride in the limited overs format anymore. I'd like to see him there as much as anyone, but he hasn't looked great in a while.

Don't take the bait. Every single thing he posts is in jest.
