Good job it's goal.com and not a credible source. I'm not going to write off Barton as a human being because everyone makes mistakes, but Barton has shown time and time again that cannot learn from his own, horrendous, errors of judgement. Buying him would lead us into trouble one way or another, and no manager has any good reason to take a gamble on Barton until he can prove that he can stay out of trouble for longer than a few months. Don't want him anywhere near Pompey.Goal.com reporting that Joey Barton is a potential target for Portsmouth, which would no doubt please Rubble
Think he would be an excellent buy actually. If and its a big if Adams can keep him out of trouble Pompey will have got themselves a good Premiership midfealder at a good price.
I don't disagree, but I knew BRs response would read something like this :Able replacement for Diarra TBH.

Of course it would.I don't disagree, but I knew BRs response would read something like this :
Would you turn Gerrard down?Of course it would.
It's very easy to talk about Barton in positive terms when there's no chance of him joining your team, but nobody ever says "you know who I wish we'd sign? Joey Barton. There's a lad with his head screwed on straight", and there's a reason for that. You don't sign a convicted felon with a history of violence unless you can't find anyone of equal ability that doesn't have the same problems, and there are countless players out there of Barton's ability.
Fixed.Of course it would.

Read the rest of it. There are only a handful of midfielders in the world with Gerrard's ability, problems or no problems. Players of Barton's quality are easily found if you have a few million to spend and you look hard enough.Would you turn Gerrard down? ;ph34r:
No.Read the rest of it. There are only a handful of midfielders in the world with Gerrard's ability, problems or no problems. Players of Barton's quality are easily found if you have a few million to spend and you look hard enough.
Stop being so deliberately antagonistic. Barton is not that good a player. Besides, even if he were, what good is a player who could be sent to prison at any moment? You're missing the point entirely. It's not about his quality, it's about the risk. There is always a lower-risk option than a man like Barton. Why does a club in 12th place need to gamble what little money it has on a man like him?
Yeah that might be true although they probably wouldn't be English (ive never really seen that as a problem though) Someone like Scott Parker who is probably of similar quality (perhaps a bit better) would cost an awful lot more.Read the rest of it. Michael Johnson + $$$ apparently....Someone like Scott Parker who is probably of similar quality (perhaps a bit better) would cost an awful lot more.
Yeah, think Hughes is feeling a bit boxed in so he's trying to show the discontented players that he won't take their **** and will ship them out. Not sure what we need right now is to lose talent, though. Players like Elano and Johnson have been disappointing in their appearances this season but shifting that much talent out the door because you don't like them on a personal level could cost the side in the long run.Yeah I read that earlier. I like Parker and I think he is the sort of solid player that City need but why get rid of Michael Johnson, was not long ago that he was being touted as the next best thing. If you have all the money in the world why not just pay West Ham a bit more?
I'm simply pointing out that you're underrating Barton. On the occasion that he's fit and has a run of games he's easily a quality midfielder. Still young enough that if he runs into no more problems he'd probably end up running the midfield for Portsmouth. HIs development's been stunted but he could very easily become world class within one-two years. That's why managers still shell out money for him. He's quality and you're not going to get that as easily as you've implied.Stop being so deliberately antagonistic. Barton is not that good a player. Because he likes a drink and has spent his time recovering from injury on the piss.Yeah I read that earlier.
