Poor batting from our boys
It definitely was, but WI bowled and fielded better than they have all tour so far. Was particularly impressed by Miller.

I'm hoping Ryder and McCullum can get us off to a better start in Wellington.

I'm absolutely delighted for the guys!! , i thought it was lost once Nash went but Ramdin (just like in the t20's) was surperb, he was like a rabbit caught in the headlights in the test matches so it's brilliant to see him come back like this, same thing for Sarwan who showed what a class act he can be, NZ fans might be confident of a comeback but just remember we've just beaten you without our best batsman (Chanderpaul) so if he's back by the next odi you guys better do much better than what you produced today  , i'm also chuffed to see Miller put in yet another impressive performance, i said he was the best of the experienced spinners and he's starting to prove it now, he was very decent against Pakistan in the Odi's and he's carried that form into this match, i hope to see him against England in the test matches now.

Jeets is normally very good at the death, I think he had trouble gripping the wet ball there. And, to be fair, Sarwan and Ramdin played him brilliantly.
Yeah agreed.

Southee really impressed me tonight. Was shocked when he was handed the ball in the later stages instead of Oram, but he bowled superbly. Good on him.

I still feel we're a batsman too light in our team, and need to drop a bowler for another batsman. Elliott not bowling any overs proved that we're bowler heavy IMO.

Of course not. If the result was guaranteed, why bother playing?

The two teams look very evenly matched. But I don't think we'll lose the series 4-0, put it that way.

Yeah you won't lose 4-0 but i can see a few draws and possibley another Windie victory to be honest, i'm buzzing right now so needless to say the sky's looking blue, but i know the gloom will emerge once Chattergoon goes for six again and puts us on the back foot for the 1000th time..

I dont think there's an issue with the number of batsmen, just their quality and experience. Our batting is poorer for Styris' absence.

That's very true.
Wouldn't you say though guys that it's worth promoting another domestic batsman into the team in place of either Southee or Patel? We have Ryder and Elliott and they don't see any overs at all which seems strange to me. I reckon we could count on them for 10 between them and increase our depth in batting.

I would like to see Broom given a go at some point in the series, but who I'd like to see him replace I'm not sure.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Flynn is the one who needs replacing imo. Just doesn't seem like someone who can hit out or rotate strike at the current time, though maybe he could if he gets bumped to 3 in the ODI XI as well. Just seems to get stuck between two minds as what to do.

Our bowling at the death is dire and has been for 10 years. Almost ironically, Mills is probably the best we have. Don't know what more I can say about that display tbh. Maybe I could throw a "Patel sux" out there, with a "why does a country that doesn't produce spinners at all need two in their 11" but that's about it.

To my knowledge Ramdin, Taylor and co. are not particularly great sloggers in the Mills/Southee mould though are batsman who can play nice boundaries.
 Ramdin is actually better at slogging than anything else batting-related.
And Taylor pre-Test-hundred was just a glorified slogger.

Jeets at death

Jeets had a bad day at office.

But why did Vettori hand it to him when he had already gone for 25 in his first 4 overs?

Even though he took a wicket in the 5th over, he went for runs, and with a wet ball it was obvious indeed to not to have given him the ball.

Anyway, credit to WI batsmen to have tackled the tricky total well.

Looking forward to the third ODI, and hopefully we can have a full game instead of these glorified 20-20s.
