Atherton and Hussain were decent close fielders (Hussain was good in the outfield too) but I'd have Hick at slip above either of them. I'll admit though that that's nothing more than a matter of impression really, I've no idea as to their respective records for dropped catches etc.Botham was before my time (at least, almost all of his games were - by the time I was watching he was long past the time he should've been playing). Hick, well, yeah, he had great hands size-wise but I remember him dropping a decent share of catches, including a couple which cost a Test series (England in WI 1994). Can't ever have him up with the very best.
This was the best caught and bowled I have ever seen.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdfkDVe6m0gI remember seeing that live actually. It was stunning, the way in which he completely changed the momentum of his body was awesome, as well as actually holding onto the catch after falling to the floor, keeping hold of it after the initial impact with the floor must have been hard.
Pakistan - Weak in fielding. Some young guns like Imran Nazir, Misbah are there.
Still don't think there's enough evidence to suggest that was straight out cheatingYep ABdV is an excellent fielder, and a versatile one.
(I still can't forgive him for claiming That Catch a few months ago though - although I'm prepared to accept it was out of character)
Apologies for digging this up again!Still don't think there's enough evidence to suggest that was straight out cheating
Sorry dear, but your own Chris Harris and Ruwan Kalpage (who are incidentally from same era) were gun fielders who are bowlers. Later Murali, Warne, Jayasuriya, Brian McMillain, Pollock and Kallis made in to that list as fine fieldsmen.Jeetan Patel is proving himself to be a pretty decent fielder for NZ. He's taken some pretty useful catches at point over the last couple of years; which is unusual for a bowler I'd say. Think how unco some spinners have been over the years - Tufnell and Such in particular.
lol thanks mate , are u a black caps supporter as well?i'm going to like you.
With the exception of Patel, others are non-bowlersJeetan Patel(New Zealand), AB De Villiers, Paul Collingwood and Symonds are all brilliant fielders
Yep, and Jeetan Patel's biggest fan.lol thanks mate , are u a black caps supporter as well?
