Pretty much I guess Gambhir and Yuvraj will go for hundreds each (2 in the match for Gambhir). I think the only way we were going to pull a win out of this is if we declared last evening, but we didn't bat well enough so that pretty much made it a goner, IMO.

That's the most pathetic way to get a hundred - completely meaningless and they really should be ashamed of themselves. It's poor spirit and poor gamesmanship, and it's cheating the audience at the game and at home out of a contest of any sort.

I don't think Australia or SA would ever do something of this sort. Get the **** off the pitch and bowl already. This totally reeks of the impotent, cowardly, spineless India from a decade or so ago.

Boring

So booooooring cricket by india. they cant be no.1 if they approach test cricket lik this. Peterson should boo at the batsmen. Or brinh in Bell and strauss and bowl to these century lovers.

Stats don't care about what each of your hundreds meant. Not that I'm condoning what India is doing... I simply don't think we can win. And clearly, neither does Dhoni. At any rate, the crowd will probably enjoy watching Yuvraj/Gambhir and Dhoni bat more than they will enjoy the English batsmen mucking around for a few hours to get to 100/2 from 40 overs.

I'd say, this match pretty much was relegated to becoming a draw ever since Sehwag got out. Had he stuck around, we'd be bowling from the start on Day 5.

I'd be bringing on Strauss or someone of the ilk to bowl to the batsmen when they're on 99, so that every time one sees the century being brought up, they know that it was a worthless century.

Well, that's a little anticlimactic! Neither Yuvraj nor Gambhir managed a century lol!

I guess that's it for the game here... :p

Obviously impossible is an exaggeration but it's entirely unrealistic. If Greenidge's Lord's show in 1984 hadn't happened, it's virtually inconceivable it ever would have - it's very likely it never will again.

Scoring at 5-an-over for 70 overs is almost unheard of at any stage in a Test, never mind when you (and more significantly, your opponents) know you need to to win a game.
England hit 407 in 79.2 overs V Australia at Edgbaston 2005, 1st innings. I'm sure it's happened elsewhere as well.

Good - in which case, Bell, please get out as quickly as possible, and preferably in such an embarrassing way that even the selectors realise you've done nothing worthwhile since July in any form of the game and feel compelled to drop you.

Please. For my sanity's sake.

I knew you were going to come back with that :p

it is possible, but yeah, very unlikely. When you're 1-0 down on the last day of a series though, should always have a crack at something like 350 in 70, because I would rather see my team go down fighting than play for the draw.

Obviously 400 in 40 or whatever it was today, I can forgive them not going for that! :D

Please, please, please, please, please, please do not get out to Mahendra Dhoni.

EDIT: bloody hell he can bowl at 80mph without a warmup! Wish I could do that. Jammy bastard wicketkeepers.

Cook has actually taken a handful of First-Class wickets TBH and isn't the worst. Nor, strangely, is Dhoni, that's easily the best over I've ever seen from a specialist wicketkeeper.
