I'm actually pretty surprised Tushar hasn't chucked his lot in to play for the Warriors. Seems like the kind of player who'd go.

Bogra: Barisal* v Rajshahi
Barisal 166 (57.5) - Hannan Sarkar 77; Suhrawadi Shuvo 3-25, Mohammad Shahzada 3-57
Rajshahi 96-2 (27.1)

Another strong performance from Rajshahi's bowlers; Farhad Hossain and Anisur Rahman 36* and 34* respectively at the close.

Chittagong: Chittagong* v Dhaka
Chittagong 279-8 (90) - Tariq Ahmed 83, Faisal Hossain 102 (101b, 9x4, 3x6)

Faisal Hossain hits a third ton in four NCL innings. Brilliant - even if this is no great Dhaka attack.

No play in Sylhet v Khulna because the Bangladesh Olympic Association had an event on Sylhet's ground on Sunday and apparently it was in no fit state to play on. Welcome to Bangladesh.

National Cricketl League (FC) 2008-09, round six

Bogra: Barisal* (12) beat Rajshahi (5) by 222 runs
Barisal 166 (57.5) - Hannan Sarkar 77; Suhrawadi Shuvo 3-25, Mohammad Shahzada 3-57
Rajshahi 204 (66.5) - Talha Jubair 5-41, Tariqul Islam 3-35
Barisal 342 (116.4) - Hannan Sarkar 99, Nasir Hossain 92; Farhad Hossain 4-33, Suhrawadi Shuvo 4-119
Rajshahi 82 (29.4) - Tariqul Islam 5-21

Rajshahi fell to pieces on the final day to Tariqul Islam's left-arm spin, but the real heroes for Barisal were Hannan Sarkar and 16-year-old Nasir Hossain, who made brilliant 90s on day three. Barisal's win really opens up the title race.

Chittagong: Chittagong* (8) drew with Dhaka (12)
Chittagong 314 (107.2) - Tariq Ahmed 83, Faisal Hossain 102; Arafat Sunny 3-63
Dhaka 366-9 dec (128.2) - Anwar Hossain 65, Marshall Ayub 181; Tareq Aziz 4-61, Mohammad Younus 3-110
Chittagong 314-7 (114) - Nafees Iqbal 77, Rezaul Karim 59, Masumud Dowla 102

A tame draw on a flat pitch, the highlights of the game being Faisal's third ton in four NCL innings (the other being a fifty) and Marshall Ayub's 253-ball 181, the highest score of the season so far.

Sylhet: Sylhet* (8) drew with Khulna (12)
Sylhet 300 (96.3) - Saikat Ali 88, Mithun Ali 106; Robiul Islam 3-58
Khulna 364 (132.1) - Ashraful Aziz 105, Raihan Anas; Nabil Samad 5-81, Tapash Ghosh 3-47
Sylhet 198 (87.4) - Kamrul Islam 89; Atiqur Rahman 5-37
Khulna 78-4 (30)

In many ways an interesting game that culminated in anticlimax. On the final afternoon, after the game had been delayed by a day so that floodlights could be fitted to the stadium, Khulna were left to score 135 in 30 overs - on a wearing pitch admittedly, but with still a good chance of a win. Instead, they chose the soft option of the winning draw. More promising were the performances of several junior batsmen on both sides: 18-year-old Mithun Ali hit a maiden ton for Sylhet, putting on 182 with Saikat Ali, 17. Amit Majumder (18) and Ashraful Aziz (17) then added 97 for Khulna's first wicket.

Dhaka 155-4 (35) - Mahmudullah 52

Mirpur: Dhaka* (12) drew with Sylhet (10)
Sylhet 363 (142.5) - Imtiaz Hossain 58, Rajin Saleh 94, Kamrul Islam 77, Rezaul Haque 73; Arafat Sunny 5-73, Mohammad Azim 3-64
Dhaka 438 (130) - Mahmudullah 103, Nadif Chowdhury 81, Javed Omar 112*; Tapash Ghosh 3-63, Sumon Saha 3-86
Sylhet 153-7 (77) - Arafat Sunny 4-22

A reasonably unexciting draw, but at least the horrific collapses of the other two games were avoided - until Arafat Sunny reduced Sylhet from 106-1 to 145-7 on the final day, that is. Mahmudullah hit a maiden ton, Nadif continued his good form.

Chittagong: Chittagong (4) lost to Rajshahi* (13) by 8 wickets
Rajshahi 240 (88.5) - Suhrawadi Shuvo 56
Chittagong 80 (49.1) - Suhrawadi Shuvo 3-21, Shafiul Islam 3-36
Chittagong (f/o) 227 (91.5) - Masumud Dowla 53; Mohammad Shahzada 4-80
Rajshahi 73-2 (16.4)

No hundreds this time from Faisal Hossain; a crushing win for Rajshahi. Enough said.

Khulna: Khulna (4) lost to Barisal* (14) by an innings and 52 runs
Barisal 252 (95.3) - Nasiruddin Faruque 61, Shahin Hossain 58; Robiul Islam 4-58
Khulna 69 (19.1) - Talha Jubair 5-35, Arafat Salahuddin 3-15
Khulna (f/o) 131 (44.2) - Arafat Salahuddin 5-44, Talha Jubair 3-46

The game only lasted two days as Talha and Arafat proved far too much for a young and inexperienced batting order. Barisal only spent 63.3 overs in the field in total. Carnage.

Jungle Jumbo

Mirpur: Dhaka (4) lost to Rajshahi* (14) by 9 wickets
Dhaka 142 (47.4) - Delwar Hossain 5-45
Rajshahi 283 (107.5) - Jahurul Islam 83, Suhrawadi Shuvo 85
Dhaka 256 (100.5) - Mahmudullah 105; Delwar Hossain 5-60
Rajshahi 117-1 (24) - Jahurul Islam 68*

What could have been a testing target for Rajshahi turned into a facile chase, thanks to Jahurul and his second fifty of the game. The real damage however was done by Delwar Hossain, who returned a maiden ten-wicket haul. Rajshahi are now in pole position; Dhaka's title hopes appear gone.

Khulna: Khulna* (15) beat Chittagong (3) by 35 runs
Khulna 301-9 dec (100.2) - Raihan Anas 63, Nahidul Haque 67; Tareq Aziz 5-69
Chittagong 121 (31.4) - Ziaur Rahman 5-36, Robiul Islam 3-18
Khulna 54 (34.1) - Kamrul Islam 5-21
Chittagong 199 (51.2) - Faisal Hossain 79; Dolar Mahmud 4-57

A bizarre match. Khulna set about composing a challenging total, before wickets began to tumble left, right and centre. A brave rearguard from Faisal proved to be in vain as Khulna secured a big win.

Sylhet: Sylhet* (12) drew with Barisal (7)
Sylhet 366-9 dec (126.4)
- Saikat Ali 111, Golam Rahman 116; Tariqul Islam 4-78, Nasir Hossain 3-51
Barisal 270 (100.1) - Nasiruddin Faruque 66, Hannan Sarkar 50; Subashis Roy 3-67
Sylhet 251-7 dec (77) - Imtiaz Hossain 82, Rajin Saleh 71; Saju Datta 3-54
Barisal 178-6 (53) - Nasir Hossain 60; Tapash Ghosh 3-50

Barisal slipped up, conceding a first-innings defeat to weak Sylhet, whose batting finally clicked. The point that Barisal were denied by Mithun Ali's declaration when nine down may prove vital. In the end, Sylhet settled for the first innings victory, with a conservative final afternoon declaration.

Chittagong: Chittagong v Barisal*
Barisal 244 (63.5) - Yasin Arafat 3-44
Chittagong 52-1 (20)

An intriguing day. Barisal decided to bat, then crashed to 4-3. Raqibul Hasan made 43, Nasir Hossain 49, Arafat Salahuddin 41, Talha Jubair 47. Nafees Iqbal 20 not out at the close for Chittagong after Salahuddin had Masumud Dowla caught behind for 24.

Khulna: Khulna* v Dhaka
Khulna 355 (76.2) - Imrul Kayes 58, Tushar Imran 54, Shakib Al Hasan 59; Marshall Ayub 4-36, Mahbubul Alam 4-82
Dhaka 38-2 (8)

Khulna rattled along at over 4.5 an over, but no-one could convert a fifty inbto a hundred. Marshall Ayub's leg breaks included Tushar and Shakib among their victims. Shahadat Hossain bowled 11 expensive and wicketless overs. Dhaka then lost Javed Omar and Ayub within 15 balls, both to Ziaur Rahman. Mohammad Ashraful is 20 not out from 16 balls at the close.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi v Sylhet*
Rajshahi 56-5 (30.3)

Just a third of a day's worth of play was possible - but it was more than enough for Sylhet to severely damange Rajshahi's title hopes. Junaid Siddique made 10, Naeem Islam is 1 not out at the close.

Chittagong: Chittagong v Barisal*
Barisal 244 (63.5) - Yasin Arafat 3-44
Chittagong 198 (73)
Barisal 93-2 (33)

Barisal moved into control on the second day as Chittagong's first innings never really got going. No-one made more than Yasin Arafat's 34. Talha Jubair, Saju Datta and Tariqul Islam all took two wickets. Nasiruddin (36*) and Hannan Sarkar (36) then pressed on in the final session. Barisal lead by 139.

Khulna: Khulna* v Dhaka
Khulna 355 (76.2) - Imrul Kayes 58, Tushar Imran 54, Shakib Al Hasan 59; Marshall Ayub 4-36, Mahbubul Alam 4-82
Dhaka 181-9 (54.1) - Ziaur Rahman 3-33, Dolar Mahmud 3-51
Khulna 146-5 (38)

Dhaka fell apart on day two, the top order caving in to Ziaur and Dolar. Mohammad Ashraful made 37, Mehrab Hossain 9 and Mahmudullah 23. Shakib Al Hasan finished with figures of 11-7-10-2, before Javed Omar did his usual nine-down declaration. Shakib is 34 not out overnight as Khulna kept up the run rate.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi v Sylhet*
Rajshahi 264 (90.4) - Naeem Islam 87; Sumon Saha 4-55
Sylhet 1-0 (4)

Rajshahi turned the tables on Sylhet on day two, converting an overnight score of 50-5 into a competitive total, built around Naeem Islam's measured 87. He received able support from captain Anisur Rahman (44).

Chittagong: Chittagong v Barisal*
Barisal 244 (63.5) - Yasin Arafat 3-44
Chittagong 198 (73)
Barisal 266 (81.5) - Raqibul Hasan 77; Mohammad Younus 4-51, Tareq Aziz 4-86
Chittagong 63-2 (23)

Barisal look set to clinch a victory on the final day, largely thanks to Raqibul Hasan's 77, after they had slipped at one point to 102-5. Talha Jubair then followed a first innings 47 with a 38-ball 45 the second time around. Masumud Dowla and Nafees Iqbal fell early for Chittagong, who face an uphill struggle to save the game.

Khulna: Khulna* v Dhaka
Khulna 355 (76.2) - Imrul Kayes 58, Tushar Imran 54, Shakib Al Hasan 59; Marshall Ayub 4-36, Mahbubul Alam 4-82
Dhaka 181-9 dec (54.1) - Ziaur Rahman 3-33, Dolar Mahmud 3-51
Khulna 352 (77.4) - Shakib Al Hasan 129, Raihan Anas 90; Mahmudullah 3-47
Dhaka 204-5 (43) - Javed Omar 76, Mahmudullah 79*

Dhaka's title hopes all but vanished at the hands of Shakib, who smashed 129 from 145 balls (20 fours, 1 six), adding 202 with Anas for the sixth wicket. Shahadat Hossain and Mahbubul Alam were both expensive. Robiul Islam removed 'keeper Enamul Haque early on in Dhaka's chase, before Ziaur Rahman claimed the wickets of Marshall Ayub, Mohammad Ashraful and Mehrab Hossain in the space of 12 balls. Javed Omar made an upbeat 76, while Nadif Chowdhury (26*) was offering helpful support to Mahmudullah at the close.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi v Sylhet*
Rajshahi 264 (90.4) - Naeem Islam 87; Sumon Saha 4-55
Sylhet 1-0 (4)

No play on day three at Rajshahi.

Chittagong: Chittagong (6) drew with Barisal* (9)
Barisal 244 (63.5) - Yasin Arafat 3-44
Chittagong 198 (73)
Barisal 266 (81.5) - Raqibul Hasan 77; Mohammad Younus 4-51, Tareq Aziz 4-86
Chittagong 290-8 (90) - Rezaul Karim 128, Tariq Ahmed 54; Saju Datta 3-33

A combination of Rezaul Karim's maiden first-class hundred and bad light ensured that Chittagong escaped defeat at the hands of title-challengers Barisal. At one point Chittagong were apparently safe, but 269-3 became 286-8 in the space of seven overs. Darkness however intervened and Barisal were left with only nine points from their efforts.

Khulna: Khulna* (15) beat Dhaka (4) by 170 runs
Khulna 355 (76.2) - Imrul Kayes 58, Tushar Imran 54, Shakib Al Hasan 59; Marshall Ayub 4-36, Mahbubul Alam 4-82
Dhaka 181-9 dec (54.1) - Ziaur Rahman 3-33, Dolar Mahmud 3-51
Khulna 352 (77.4) - Shakib Al Hasan 129, Raihan Anas 90; Mahmudullah 3-47
Dhaka 356 (84.2) - Javed Omar 76, Mahmudullah 152; Ziaur Rahman 5-82, Robiul Islam 4-115

There was no avoiding defeat for Dhaka however, who capsized to a heavy defeat, despite Mahmudullah hammering 152 from 201 balls (16 fours, 1 six). There were more wickets for the in-form Khulna seam attack.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi (10) drew with Sylhet* (6)
Rajshahi 264 (90.4) - Naeem Islam 87; Sumon Saha 4-55
Sylhet 127 (49.3) - Mithun Ali 57; Delwar Hossain 5-33, Suhrawadi Shuvo 3-50
Rajshahi 101-2 (13.3) - Jahurul Islam 53*
Sylhet 67-2 (11)

Again, play was heavily interupted by the weather: it began 30 minutes late and ended half-way through the afternoon session, depriving Rajshahi of the chance of a shock victory. Skittling Sylhet for just 127 did however give them a healthy innings lead, which bizarrely gave them one more point from the round than Barisal.

Nah, all banned and it's really hit the NCL circuit this year.

Incidentally, Rajshahi now lead Barisal by 3 points going into final round, in which Rajshahi play Khulna and Barisal play Dhaka.

riyad scoring runs and making a case to be brought back to the national side. a few of the national batsmen are making runs which is good to see (raqibul, naeem, imrul, shakib). got some good pacer prospects with delwar hossain, ziaur rahman, sumon saha, rubel hossain, robiul islam, subashis roy, sajidul islam. even the keepers are making runs with jahurul islam (though he's not keeping much this season) in the top 5 highest run scorers this season and mithun ali getting a century and couple of half centuries. some of the spinners are doing a good job with shuvo and nabil samad topping the bowling most wickets lists and the young allrounder nasir hossain is doing alright for his first FC season.
