What about Enamul Haque jr, still only 21 and last played a Test in early January (was impressing England tourists as long as five years ago IIRC). Doesn't seem to be considered for ODIs, although he has a decent record in the few games he's played. Or do Bangladesh have too many SLA bowlers as it is?
Yeah there are better options for ODIs, and due to the lack of Tests Bangladesh actually play, he's suffered at times from not getting enough really meaningful cricket. He played in New Zealand and looked really underdone.

The next round is from tomorrow (19 October), not today as I wrong stated... time-zone confusion, you see.

A bit of team news in the meantime, so as to not disappoint you in your rush to see the latest scores from the cricket-playing world's best worst first-class tournament. Mahmudullah Riyad returns to ODI duty to play for Dhaka; Imrul Kayes was released from the Test squad to represent Khulna.

Runs aplenty in round two...

National Cricket League (FC) 2008-09, Round two, day one

Fatullah: Barisal* v Khulna
Barisal 278-8 (90) - Nasir Hossain 67, Shahin Hossain 51*, Sajidul Islam 75; Robiul Islam 4-83

Barisal slipped to 19-3, then 120-7, before a seventh-wicket stand of 127 between Shahin and Sajidul, with a career-best 75, put them back on track. Earlier 16-year-old Nasir Hossain hit his maiden first-class fifty, before becoming one of the in-form Robiul Islam's four victims.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi* v Chittagong
Rajshahi 275-4 (90) - Farhad Hossain 88, Anisur Rahman 111*

Anisur Rahman Sanchoy (162 balls, 13 fours), a veteran of the domestic circuit, was at the crease with Khaled Mashud (3*) when stumps were drawn. Anisur had earlier added 132 with Farhad Hossain, who ground out an 218-ball 88. There was precious little success for Chittagong's spin-heavy attack, despite reducing Rajshahi to 46-2.

Sylhet: Sylhet* v Dhaka
Sylhet* 254-5 (90) - Golam Rahman 71, Mithun Ali 69, Kamrul Islam 53*; Elias Sunny 3-64

Fifties from opener Golam Rahman, promising keeper-batsman Mithun Ali (81 balls, 9 fours, 3 sixes) and Kamrul Islam put Sylhet in a strong position at close on day one. Ezaz Ahmed remained was 36 not out at the close, having added an unbeaten 73 with Kamrul. Dhaka's attack contains just the one international - Mahmudullah - a far cry from past seasons.

National Cricket League (FC) 2008-09, Round two, day two

Fatullah: Barisal* v Khulna
Barisal 288 (94.4) - Nasir Hossain 67, Shahin Hossain 52, Sajidul Islam 75; Robiul Islam 5-86
Khulna 210 (79.3) - Talha Jubair 4-43, Sajidul Islam 3-51
Barisal 2-0 (1)

Barisal addded just 10 runs to their overnight total, but were batting before the close of play after Khulna's reply offered much, but produced little. No batsman passed fifty, although seven reached double figures, including Tushar Imran (32) and Saghir Hossain (40). The Barisal opening bowlers helped themselves to 7 wickets between themselves.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi* v Chittagong
Rajshahi 438-9 (153.4) - Farhad Hossain 88, Anisur Rahman 142, Khaled Mashud 72; Mohammad Younus 4-110
Chittagong 54-3 (24)

Anisur Rahman took his overnight 111 to 142 (221 balls, 16 fours), his highest first-class score, as Rajshahi were able to amass over 400. Khaled Mashmud made a patient 72, before coming one of legspinner Younus' four wickets. Chittagong were in deep water by the close, losing three wickets in the final session - all three to the spinners. Nafees Iqbal is 36 not out.

Sylhet: Sylhet* v Dhaka
Sylhet 343 (120.4)
- Golam Rahman 71, Mithun Ali 69, Kamrul Islam 62, Ezaz Ahmed 88; Elias Sunny 7-79
Dhaka 183-5 (57) - Shamsur Rahman 78; Rashedur Rahman 3-32

The game remains wide open in Sylhet after a fluctuating day. The home side lost their last 5 wickets for 90 runs, with Elias Sunny finishing with figures of 28.4-6-79-7, including a hat-trick when he dismissed Kamrul Islam, Tapash Ghosh and Nazmul Hossain with sucessive deliveries. Dhaka then lost three quick wickets to the Sylhet seamers, but Shamsur fought back with a 96-ball 78, well supported by Mahmudullah (44). Marshall Ayub (27*) and Nazmul Hossain Milon (19*) are currently at the crease.

Fatullah: Barisal* v Khulna
Barisal 288 (94.4) - Nasir Hossain 67, Shahin Hossain 52, Sajidul Islam 75; Robiul Islam 5-86
Khulna 210 (79.3) - Talha Jubair 4-43, Sajidul Islam 3-51
Barisal 169-9 (90.1) - Murad Khan 3-51

Barisal fought through a tepid day's cricket to place themselves in a strong position to finish off Khulna on the final day, some 257 runs ahead. Progress wasn't pretty though: Ziaur Rahman conceded 15 from 14 overs, Dolar Mahmud 16 from 11 and Murad Khan 51 from 30. Captain Imran Ahmed eked out Barisal's highest score, a 130-ball 34.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi* v Chittagong
Rajshahi 438-9 (153.4) - Farhad Hossain 88, Anisur Rahman 142, Khaled Mashud 72; Mohammad Younus 4-110
Chittagong 120 (52.2) - Suhrawadi Shuvo 5-34
Chittagong (following on) 207-7 (59) - Gazi Salahuddin 78; Farhad Hossain 4-72

Chittagong require another unlikely 112 runs to make Rajshahi bat again after the home spinners turned the screw on day three. Resuming on 54-3, Chittagong lost their last six wickets for just 57, as Suhrawadi Shuvo returned figures of 20-5-34-5. Second time around, Rajshahi largely dispensed with their seam attack - neither Mohammad Shahazad nor Alamgir Kabir has been seen as of yet - and left Shuvo to bowl unchanged from one end. Spirited resistance from Gazi Salahuddin, Tariq Ahmed (49*) and Faisal Hossain (47) appeared to have kept Chittagong in the game, before the latter's dismissal triggered a collapse of four wickets for 16, all to offspinner Farhad Hossain.

Sylhet: Sylhet* v Dhaka
Sylhet 343 (120.4) - Golam Rahman 71, Mithun Ali 69, Kamrul Islam 62, Ezaz Ahmed 88; Elias Sunny 7-79
Dhaka 254 (78.1) - Shamsur Rahman 78, Marshall Ayub 59, Nazmul Hossain 54; Rashedur Rahman 5-38, Nazmul Hossain 3-49
Sylhet 113 (49.1) - Elias Sunny 6-28
Dhaka 34-0 (13)

Elias Sunny tore through Sylhet for the second time in the game to set up an intriguing final day. Dhaka require a further 169 with all ten wickets still standing, but the pitch appears to be deteriorating rapidly. The unbeaten overnight Dhaka pair, Marshall Ayub and Nazmul Hossain, cracked on in the morning to take their sixth wicket stand to 102, before the last five batsmen tumbled for just 10 runs, with none of the bottom four registering a run. Elias then destroyed Sylhet, who were 58-1 at one stage with Saikat Ali and Golam Rahman going well, finishing with match figures of 41.4-10-107-13. The experience of Javed Omar (23*) and Anwar Hossain (10*) saw Dhaka through to the close without alarm.

Fatullah: Barisal* (10) drew with Khulna (7)
Barisal 288 (94.4) - Nasir Hossain 67, Shahin Hossain 52, Sajidul Islam 75; Robiul Islam 5-86
Khulna 210 (79.3) - Talha Jubair 4-43, Sajidul Islam 3-51
Barisal 181 (96.2) - Robiul Islam 4-40, Murad Khan 3-51
Khulna 207-8 (82) - Tushar Imran 56; Tariqul Islam 5-83

Khulna, set an improbable 260 to win by Barisal, clung on for a draw - just. They made a bright start through Nazus Sadat (38) and Imrul Kayes (25), but then collapsed to 82-5. Tushar Imran and Raihan Anas (39) dug in however to take Khulna through 65 overs. It was left to Dolar Mahmud (18 from 50 balls) and Murad Khan (1* from 28) to see off the threat of Tariqul Islam's offspin.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi* (16) beat Chittagong (3) by an innings and 22 runs
Rajshahi 438-9 (153.4) - Farhad Hossain 88, Anisur Rahman 142, Khaled Mashud 72; Mohammad Younus 4-110
Chittagong 120 (52.2) - Suhrawadi Shuvo 5-34
Chittagong (following on) 207-7 (59) - Gazi Salahuddin 78, Tariq Ahmed 54; Suhrawadi Shuvo 5-122 Farhad Hossain 4-100

Rajshahi required just 25 more overs to finish off Chittagong to claim a crushing innings defeat. Suhrawadi Shuvo finished with 10 wickets in the match, despite some lower order resistance from Mohammad Younus (24), Mukhtar Ali (40*) and Tareq Aziz (15).

Sylhet: Sylhet* (7) lost to Dhaka (14) by 6 wickets
Sylhet 343 (120.4) - Golam Rahman 71, Mithun Ali 69, Kamrul Islam 62, Ezaz Ahmed 88; Elias Sunny 7-79
Dhaka 254 (78.1) - Shamsur Rahman 78, Marshall Ayub 59, Nazmul Hossain 54; Rashedur Rahman 5-38, Nazmul Hossain 3-49
Sylhet 113 (49.1) - Elias Sunny 6-28
Dhaka 205-4 (77) - Mahmudullah 56*

A calm and measured performance from the Dhaka top order made a mockery of what appeared a tricky target. Javed Omar (48), Anwar Hossain (29), Marshall Ayub (31) and Arafat Sunny (23) all chipped in as Mahmudullah played the lynchpin role, taking 100 balls over his 56.

Code:

2 Dhaka 1 0 1 0-1 20

4 Khulna 1 0 1 0-1 19

Just a quick question. A few years ago I remember reading an article claiming that Steve Tikolo spent at least one season playing club cricket in Bangladesh setting a whole batch of batting records while at it. Can anyone confirm if this is true and if he still holds any of those records?

That would depend on which season... but in the 2005-06 Dhaka Premier League (which is covered earlier in this same thread) he made 867 runs from 16 (?) games for Old DOHS and only failed to make fifty two or three times. I think that's still a record. It was pretty insane stuff.

EDIT: I've just dug out my stats sheets I kept (for the only time) on that DPL season. Tikolo's batting form was as follows:

74 (72) v Sonargaon; 56 (71) v Kalabagan; 30 (46) v Orient; 79 (106) v Brothers Union; 67* (76) v Indira Road; 39 (38) v Agrani Bank; 71 (93) v Mohammedan; 46 (46) v Abahani; 87 (84) v Biman; 7 (15) v Victoria; 98 (112) v City Club

That was the group stage. In the super six...

41 (39) v Brothers Union; 69 (74) v Sonargaon; 43 (43) v Mohammedan; 55 (50) v Biman; 5 (5) v Victoria

That's 16 matches, 16 innings, 1 not out, 867 runs at an average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 89.38, with 9 fifties and 5 further scores over 25. Bearing in mind DPL games are usually low scoring - 250 wins you the game - those are very impressive figures. He also added 19 wickets at 19.05.

Perhaps even more startling though were Abdur Razzak's bowling figures for the same side: 40 wickets at 15.08 in 16 games, including 3 five-wicket hauls and 5 three-wicket analyses.

National Cricket League (FC) 2008-09, Round Three, day three

No play was possible in any of the three fixtures on the first two days.

Bogra: Barisal* v Sylhet
Sylhet 71-1 (21.4)

Just two hours of play were possible late in the day at Bogra. Golam Rahman and Imtiaz Hossain made a confident start for Sylhet, before Golam was run out for 33 shortly before the close.

Chittagong: Chittagong v Khulna*
Chittagong 115-3 (38)
- Nafees Iqbal 53*

Nafees Iqbal dug out his first fifty of the campaign, rebuilding Chittagong's effort with Tariq Ahmed (27) after Ziaur Rahman had taken two early wickets.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi v Dhaka*
Dhaka 133-4 (38.2) - Javed Omar 66*

Javed Omar's surprising decision to bat first appeared disastrous as Dhaka plunged to 32-4 inside 10 overs, with Alamgir Kabir and Mohammad Shahzada both picking up a brace of wickets. The former national opener found an ally in Nadif Chowdhury (49*) however and the pair put on an unbeaten 101 before the close

Bogra: Barisal* (?) drew with Sylhet (?)
Sylhet 163 (72)
- Kamrul Islam Rabbi 3-33, Sajidul Islam 3-56
Barisal 160-5 (43.2) - Sharifullah 3-26

A slightly bizarre day. I'll let the Daily Star explain:

Sylhet refused to play as their rain-interrupted third-round match against Barisal in the Mirzapore Tea 10th National Cricket League was called off yesterday near close of play.
The other matches ended in draws as nowhere the two opponents managed to complete their first innings.

Each of the teams got three points according to bylaws but Barisal went close to bag four points at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, where things got messy due to lack of knowledge about rules.

It was learned that the match was allowed to get beyond the regulation playing time although it is permitted only when there is possibility of a result.

However, the match was finally called off after the Maghrib Azan when Sylhet complained about bad light, informed a tournament committee official.

Barisal, chasing Sylhet's 163 all out, were 160 for five after 43.2 overs.

There were some altercations between players and umpires according to reports and the match referee later had a session with the captains. No comment was available from the match referee though.

The tournament committee will decide the fate of the match after getting the match referee's report
Chittagong: Chittagong (7) drew with Khulna* (4)
Chittagong 302-5 dec (107.3) - Nafees Iqbal 122*, Faisal Hossain 96
Khulna 113-5 (23) - Tareq Aziz 3-39

Chittagong pinched at least a couple of unlikely points against Khulna, with Nafees (316 balls, 14 fours) and Faisal taking them past 300 with a stand of 158. Tareq Aziz then reduced Khulna to 17-3, and two late wickets from the spinners clinched a bowling point.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi (7) drew with Dhaka* (5)
Dhaka 179 (65.5)
- Javed Omar 82, Nadif Chowdhury 64
Rajshahi 117 (62) - Mahmudullah 3-33

Dhaka's disappointing effort - only the two half-centurions and Shamsur Rahman made double-figures - was too much for Rajshahi to surmount and claim a first-innings victory, with Mahmudullah (19-4-33-3) and Arafat Sunny (25-9-31-1) pinning downt the home batsmen.

In 2002-2003 He smashed a Few 180* ... 186* was his Highest Score I believe, There was a lot of 300+ Scores back Pre 2003 I would say. I Can Dig up the Scorecards if you want to see them or Don't even believe.

Cricinfo Doesn't Pre 2000 Dhaka Premier League Scorecards ... I would have loved to seen how well Wasim, Sanath, Sangakara perfromed.

Makes you think Bangladesh Cricket Had lots of money to have Top Tier Players Play in there Leagues Pre Test Status.

Ouch, Sylhet really must have got it wrong:

Sylhet paid a heavy price for their ignorance of the game's rules after Bangladesh Cricket Board penalised them yesterday for breaching the Code of Conduct in the third round match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 10th National Cricket League on Wednesday.

After having refused to play after 43.2 overs in their match against Barisal at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, the first-class tournament's technical committee, after reviewing match referee Belayet Hossain's report, decided to award the match to Barisal who receive 12 points (eight for an outright win and 4 bonus points for bowling out Sylhet in the first innings) as per clause 16.1 (refuse to play) of the tournament's playing conditions.

It was learned that the match, that was called off well after sunset, was allowed to get beyond the regulation playing time although it is permitted only when there is possibility of a result.

The entire Sylhet side were fined 50 per cent of their match fees while stand-in captain Imtiaz Hossain was fined 75 per cent of his fee and warned for future wrongdoings after it was reported that some altercations took place between the players and umpires.

The Sylhet Divisional Sports Association will also have to pay a penalty of Tk. 50,000.00 and worst of all, the side would get no points from the game.
It all seems a bit confusing to me. The one odd part is that the Division Sports Association has to pay a fine. I thought that the divisions were all just sides selected and managed by the BCB - hence it can just announce squads at the start of the season. Interesting. And it skews the table a bit now - Barisal get 12 points for a win where no other side got even a winning draw.

Fatullah: Barisal v Chittagong*
Barisal 276-5 (90) - Rony Talukder 176; Kamrul Islam 3-45

After Uttam Sarkar fell to the fifth ball of the day - trapped LBW by Tareq Aziz - Rony Talukder smashed a quite brilliant 176 (224 balls, 21 fours, 3 sixes) to put Barisal in a powerful position. It was the 19 year old's maiden first-class ton, his previous best being just 38. He received useful support from his more experienced team mates, adding 156 for the second wicket with Nasiruddin (49) and 106 for the third with Imran Ahmed. Three quick wickets - including that of Talukder - tumbled before the close however and all is not lost for Chittagong.

Mirpur: Dhaka v Khulna*
Dhaka 251-9 (83.3) - Shamsur Rahman 53, Nadif Chowdhury 54; Robiul Islam 3-44
Khulna 18-4 (4)

A slightly unsporting declaration by Javed Omar, which denied Khulna a fourth bowling point, brought an intriguing day to a close. Dhaka had moved to 115-1 through Shamsur and makeshift opener Elias Sunny (44), before Khulna pegged them back to 126-5. Nadif and Nazmul Hossain Milon (36) rebuilt, but Robiul Islam hit back to run through the tail. Nazmus Sadat and Mostafizur Rahman are unbeaten at the crease for Khulna.

Sylhet: Sylhet v Rajshahi*
Rajshahi 117 (56.1) - Subashis Roy 5-18, Rashedur Rahman 3-52
Sylhet 97-3 (31)

Talukder's Under-19 team mate Roy took advantage of an inexperienced Rajshahi batting order to finish with the exceptional figures of 16.1-9-18-5. Only Jahurul Islam (38) and Anisur Rahman (24)offered much resistance. Sylhet opened strongly, with Golam Rahman, Imtiaz Hossain and Saikat Ali all making starts, but all three fell to the spinners in the final session.
