***Official*** New Zealand Domestic Season 2008/09

Reckon we should start inciting a bit more passion in our teams TBH.
Can't agree more.
Absolutely. A little TV coverage might help with that.
Took the words right out of my mouth - when all you see are Twenty20 games and the occasional one day match, usually only the semis and final, its a bit difficult to really get behind a team and support them passionately.

I was a mascot for two seasons - what more do you want?

As for TV coverage, it ain't cheap, boys. And considering Sky are likely to drop some coverage of Wimbledon due to the current economic climate, I don't think you should hold your breath for any additional cricket coverage.

Guerrilla low budget style IMO. Few camera's, replays and a little scorecard on free to air channels.

Central have a great little pool of players.
We even have bowlers now! How great it is to score 400 and to be actualy able to defend it!

I support:

1. The Mighty Central Districts

2. Wellington

3. Otago

4. Auckland

5. ND

6. Canterbury

7. ND batsmen (bar Williamson, who is gun)

Just to make the post a little annoyingly longer.

Yeah I'm not as worried as I once was and with Guptill to come in the next few years our opening problems may be coming to an end.

A question for all Kiwi's.

Which domestic team do you support?
Guptill could come in now if they chose him. I was surprised to find out he was 22 years old which is old enough IMO. For some reason I thought he was 19 or 20.

I dont know which team, I guess either Central or Northern for no real reason. I cant support Auckland even though born and raised here. They really dont produce the amount of quality players they should in relation to the population.. If Auckland cricket had the history of producing players the way Auckland rugby does, NZ cricket would have had a slightly more illustrious history.

The only Auckland players of note in the last wee while ( I can think of)would be Kyle Mills, Parore,Richardson(Otago but Aucklander really) and Vincent. Not much over an 18 year period for 1/4 of our country.

Boult hits 35 runs from number 11 and Northern reach an all too troubling total. Bell gone already for 3. So much for consistency.

Scoring 2 tons on the trot then getting out early means you arent consistent?

I'm pretty sure batsmen are allowed a failure occasionally, especially if they have just reeled off two tons.

This is the first tricky pitch to be fair.

Not sure if that really matters. The pitches in Dunedin are usually belters, and the 2nd match will be on the same track as the one where he hit 120 last week.

The same match where Franklin double tonned wasn't it?
