Is this no longer a chanceless innings as per the first chance theory?
Nah even Yuvraj isn't going to catch that very often. Those are the sorts of things that occasionally stick and mostly don't, especially with the non-striker in the way.

A chance is only something that should be caught.

Don't see the point of backing away as much as Pietersen did there. You have to do it early and the bowler will always see you going if he's eagle-eyed enough, and can just bowl it wide out of reach, as Yuvraj did there.

Twice now Harbhajan has been hit for boundaries that should've been stopped by the long-on fielder.

EDIT: sixes don't get stopped by anyone though. Bizarre that Pietersen is now looking to do this with Harbhajan Singh but not to Yuvraj earlier.

Nah, your definition of convenience first chance averages.
Nonsense. A chance is a chance regardless, there's no conveniece involved. If you judge the overall rather than what appears to be the case on one isolated instance you'll see this.

If that catch didnt qualify for first chance, then doesnt any of Sehwag's triple 100.

And another totally unnecesary shot given the circumstance. Really shows why we've only had 1 century in ODIs in over a year and a half.

Good riddance Colly. Was groping around in the dark. Hope Pietersen hangs around till 45th over, and help make atleast 150 in the last 20 overs.

Yeah if England batsmen don't not try to score quickly enough they try to score too quickly. "Just the right pace" rarely comes into the equation.
