Oram bowling Merchant, looks like his bowling has been unaffected by his newest injuries. Though he didn't bat, excellent stuff regarding him though. As soon as he feels up to holding a bat he'll be a better batsman than Elliot again.

PINGA AND JIMMY SCORE BIG!! YUSSSS

A bit of background on Ingram from the horses mouth at a speech he made at an awards assembly at school.

He came onto the scene and scored a hundred very early in his FC career and thought "great, I'll push for a place in the Black Caps." His form plummeted and he had personal issues including his brothers death and others which I won't elaborate on as he deserves his privacy. In about 2005 he was down in the doldrums, reduced to playing for our First XI (they're in mens premier grade so teachers are allowed). He's been focussing on enjoying the game and not just eyeing the top prize, he's going one step at a time. He's worked his way back into CD and has been an inconsistent opener but he has a habit of making big scores, think along the lines of Ross Taylor's test consistency.

He's played for the U-19s and NZ emerging players, whether he's the man for tests at this stage I don't know. He'd be better than Redmond but that isn't saying a lot. He has ability, its FC level consistency that he lacks, though he is no where near as bad as Tim McIntosh.

Jimmy Franklin, my God. That was Kyle Mills and Daryl Tuffey he scored big against too. Oram better sort his injuries out quick because he has competition. Bet Franklin would have been better than others at the Gabba.

The opener race is certainly heating up, seems like we're getting a lot more big scores all round than we were last year.

I was impressed by his innings, but that was probably the flattest, most batter friendly pitch I have ever seen. I won't be confident in his batting until I see him score big when all the conditions aren't in his favour.

As shown by the pretty lacklustre Auckland opening partnership, currently 105/0.
