Aww, whyyyyy would you play the leading keeper in international cricket as a specialist batsman when that's his weaker suit by a country mile?

Also, i miss Jacob Oram.
Precisely because of a debilitating shortage of Jacob Oram. Either way Mcullum can keep wicket then though I suspect Hopkins would still be more threatening with the bat than Elliot.

Interesting the issue with Symonds in the pub hasn't got more of a run on here as a thread topic of its own yet.

Maybe the hate is dying down?

Nah, that can't be it.

My suggested NZ line up for the second test

J.How
J Ryder
P.Fulton
R. Taylor
D. Flynn
B. Mcullum
G. Hopkins (wk)
D. Vettori
T. Southee
K . Mills
C. Martin
- Ryder opening is an awesome way to ruin his career. Redmond to stay in the side as there is no other viable opener in the squad.
- Mills has gone home.
- O'Brien doesn't deserve to be dropped after being one of our best bowlers over the last couple of test matches.
- Hopkins at very little value to the batting side of things. Hardly any better than Elliott or Redmond.

Well, most of the fuss was created by grapedo, I think it's a bit of a non-issue myself.

One thing you can say about Symonds... he's either a complete liability if the article is true, or he's pissed off the media pretty severely and they have something against him.
Yeah, once again, virtually every print cricket journalist in Australia, as well as his teammates and management who sent him home from Darwin...they must all be wrong and must all be conspiring against him.

To me, it's always been a mystery as to why so many people in the public leap to the defence of a guy who, if you saw him on the street, wouldn't give you the time of day let alone acknowledge you.

Yeah, that's why I tend to believe the former.

All the same print journalists who dog-piled Ponting in lock-step too? Warne? Face it, Craddock, Dorries, Conn, et al. are bandwagon jumpers of the first order. Would sell their first born if it got them more print.

Not defending Symonds, think he's a dick. The bit I dispute is that his team-mates are any different. They're just better at hiding it and more mindful of the bad publicity.

Don't know about that. All you can judge these people on is how they behave, and Warne and Ponting behave in a far more decent manner by all accounts than Symonds.

Well, you can be a dick and act like a dick, or you can be a dick and try not to act like a dick. The latter is definitely better than the former.

Not disputing that, I was just replying to your statement. Though I question what he was doing in a bar that isn't known for being a quiet place to have a drink.

You have got to be kidding!

Even Ponting got beaten up in bar fights and assaulted women in Indian bars
