The official trailer for Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler. Have to say, it looks fantastic.

In an ideal world, this movie would kick-start a wave of public interest in wrestling - it's unlikely to in the long run, but I'd be willing to bet that in the few weeks after its release at least, ratings for all four major wrestling shows (RAW, SmackDown, ECW and iMPACT) are up.
That looks really good actually....whens it due for release?

Depends on who watches in that time tbh. If many more kids start watching then I can see them easily getting hooked. I'm willing to put up with more Boogeyman/lame Cena raps if WWE decided to sell out and get more mainstream recognition.

I was about to post this, but you beat me to it!

The movie looks great and it will be interesting to see how they portray the wrestling business, because it seems to be a film that explores the business aspect and how tough life is for some wrestlers once they have finished their career.

Definitely will be worth watching.

I like their approach right now. They've minimised on the lameness and yet have toned down considerably to get more people watching the shows. Add to that some logical booking and good storytelling in several feuds (Undertaker vs Edge, Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels) and the television has been quite good as of late.

Those of you who like reading about the history of judokas kneeing greco-romans in the face should check out Total MMA by Jonathan Snowden. If you're interested in the whole Chris Benoit thing, try Ring of Hell by Matt Randazzo. Both guys are solid dudes and their books are allegedly good reads and well researched. I wouldn't know myself, but felt I owed them a shill.

Jeff Hardy found unconscious and rushed to the hospital right before Survivor Series.

I hope it's nothing serious and that he's alright. One can't help but think that he's blown his opportunity again. If everything turns out alright though, this might just be strike three and a ticket to unemployment.
Wow, this is terrible news. Lots of people speculating he was on course to win the big one tonight. Let's hope he fell down the stairs and is now perfectly fine...if this is strike three, not only will I and many others be gutted for him, but he'll have no-one to blame but himself.

Absolutely, hope it's nothing too bad here. But as much as I'd like to think it was something innocent as falling down the stairs, knowing Jeff Hardy's history it'd be difficult not to assume the worst. He probably won't compete tonight now. But the most important thing is his health, everything else comes later.

Thought has just occurred to me. Could this be a work? Let's look at the circumstances.

1. WWE has not specified what happened, just said that Jeff was found unconscious in a stairwell.

2. They've not specified what medical facility he was taken to, which they normally would.

3. Having him "unable to compete" means he stays over having beaten Triple H and Undertaker, but also means Triple H can retain the title over Kozlov without Jeff having to lose.

4. It fits nicely with the "Jeff is denied the title by fate" angle.

5. It would play off perfectly if it turned out it was Triple H who attacked Hardy and threw him down the stairs, would provide great basis for a heel turn - Triple H is afraid Jeff will take his title, so takes him out of the match in advance. They could even do a "who attacked Jeff Hardy?" angle, similar to "who ran down Stone Cold?".

6. WWE knows people are going to assume the worst when it comes to Jeff, so it makes the story that much more believable.

7. The pop, if and when Jeff appears and interferes in the title match tonight, will be monstrous.

Obviously it's unlikely that it's a work, but in wrestling, and especially with Vince McMahon, you can never say never. Also, I would love it if it was a work, would be a genius piece of writing.

It'd be pretty far fetched if it was a work, but you know what, as soon as I saw the article I thought that it could be a work too. Although I have a feeling it isn't.

Your points definitely make sense from a booking perspective, but generally when WWE have announced stuff like this (ie. Eddie Guerrero) it's been without detail at first. We'll just have to wait and see and hope for the best.

Yeah, true. They released nothing on Benoit early on, either.

However, the thing that gets me is that beneath the picture of Jeff on the frontpage where the article is linked, it says (and this is word-for-word):

WWE Superstar Jeff Hardy was found unconscious in a Boston hotel earlier today. What could this mean for his Survivor Series WWE Championship Triple Threat Match tonight? Stay tuned to WWE.com for more details.

The fact that they put over the effects of the incident on tonight's match, and don't say anything important like "Hardy is reported to be in stable condition" or anything, leads me to believe that maybe their main concern is how the fans react, which in turn leads me to believe it may be a work.

Also, the fact that it's happened on the day of Survivor Series can't be ignored. Surely even Jeff wouldn't be dumb enough to get off his **** twelve hours before the biggest PPV of his life?

Maybe this is heart over head here (big fan of Jeff and really hoping this isn't strike three) but something just doesn't seem right about this.

Mickey Rourke is a gun. That should be awesome!

A different kind of wrestling movie compared to your Ready To Rumble, No Holds Barred, Body Slam and Nacho Libre.

Looks like it'll be Beyond The Mat in fictional form.

Hope it's a work, but I'd be staggered if it was.

Edit: If it is a work....what are the odds that Edge is put in the match as Jeff's replacement? Interesting idea I think..

Hmmm, more sources showing up strongly suggesting that this Hardy business is indeed a work, also it's been noted that Edge has shown up backstage at the arena for tonights show, so expect him to be involved....am seriously thinking Hardy could walk out of tonight the winner after Edge perhaps screws HHH over....so hope so...

Smackdown is so awesome now. Edge has three guys pissed at him and the possible angles are mouth watering. Edge-Hardy? Edge-HHH? Throw Kozlov in the mix and it's the show to watch. So glad I took the risk of watching this at work.

Now just waiting for Cena v Jericho, which I hope goes longer than one match. This could be a huge feud like his one with HBK; needs a proper build and natural flow.

How the hell do you watch this at work? I think I've asked you before, but I gotta ask you again! :p
