Famous Cricket Fans?

what about premiership footie players?
Not a fan as such, but Fulham's German defender Mortiz Volz enjoyed his first experience of the game & wrote about it in his (excellent) column in The Times.

Still on the football theme, ex-England, Ipswich, Newcastle & Barca manager Sir Bobby Robson is a big fan; remember him being interviewed On Sky in the caribbean during one of our tours. Used to play club cricket to quite a high level in the close season when he was a footballer too, apparently.

Nobel-laureate Harold Pinter is a massive cricket fan; owns a full set of Wisdens I believe.

Sometime Lloyd Webber lyricist Sir Tim Rice is usually at Lords every summer.

& not strictly English, but an EU resident, the tubby Aussie-raised Italian footballer Christian Vieri is another cricket admirer & is on record as saying Allan Border was his sporting hero growing up.

Daniel Radcliffe... aka Harry Potter is someone you see them show on TV at matches.

And also one of Busted... or was it McFly? I remember one of them at a tsunami project in Sri Lanka with various other celebs/ex-cricketers and he was a decent player, I think he'd played to a fairly high junior standard.
Harry Judd, the drummer in McFly (I think) played First XI cricket for Uppingham School.

Noticed in an interview in today's Guardian that Aston Villa's James Milner used to play for Yorkshire schools as a youth, so it's probably safe to assume he's a fan too.

He is obsessed with sport and as he discusses a golf handicap which is down to single figures, reflects on his talent for cross-country running when he was younger and recalls a promising cricket career that saw him represent Yorkshire schools as a wicketkeeper and opening batsman

Prince Phillip likes his cricket.
And just because Russell Crowe is related to Jeff & Martin Crowe, doesn't mean he likes cricket.

Crowe is a big cricket fan. He played cricket in school and his cousins Martin Crowe and Jeff Crowe are former Black Caps Captains. Russell Crowe also captained the 'Australian' Team containing Steve Waugh against an English side in the 'Hollywood Ashes' Cricket Match.

Gary Lineker is a keen cricket fan and was a good quality batsman too - not forgetting he's also made century breaks at snooker. Bit of an all around smart arse (with big ears).
